I have a '83 13 'casita egg...We have decided to make the main bed a full time bed...
We have a memory foam mattress for home about a 1 1/2 yrs ago and WE LOVE It..

I would like to put a 6-8" memory foam mattress in the egg ..

Problem... What is the best way to Cut memory ????... My idea was a hot flat piece of steel and try to slice it like hot butter ..

I'd love some other opinions and idea before I mees something up lol..

Electric carving knives work really well with foam.

I just put 3-4" memory in my 13' Scamp a couple days ago. Just made an outline of my cushions with a sharpie and took a sharp razor blade and made about 3 passes. No problems at all. I would imagine that the thick stuff would be harder. But... It will be covered up with a fitted sheet so it really isn't all that big a deal. Good luck.

Hi: All... "I can't believe it's not butter" but thats how foam cuts with an electric carving knife. I used one on our former Boler. We had to make the front couch back thicker to fit the 4" Scamp upholstery covers. Not a bad thing as the upper bunk is now 4" thick instead of 2".

I put a 4 inch memory foam mattress in several years ago. I outlined the pattern with a Sharpie then cut it with an electric knife. Just be careful because the memory foam does move a little, don't press too hard, just lightly run the knife around.

And while you're at that garage sale picking up a electric knife look over the 35 cup coffee maker too.

That is what us poor folks what don't have no fancy water heater use for hot water.

Sits on a table in the screen room, hot water all day.

We have a memory foam mattress for our Liberty. I purchased a 'California King Memory Foam Mattress' and then cut it for 30" wide Twin beds with our electric carving knife. We marked the mattress with a 'dry marker' and then cut slowly along the line. It as easy and exact.

I bought mine at Overstock.com At that time it cost $1 to ship! Purchased the king size and was able to cut a twin bed size out for my daughter's bed at home and what I needed/wanted for the trailer.
