hello all. i am new to the fiberglass trailers. i just picked me up a '99 scamp 16'er. i am fixing to add an a/c unit into the bottom of the closet, with ducting to seperate hot/fresh air. also am pondering adding hot water. in my parents store, they have a small sink that was plumbed with only cold water. while at home depot, we found a small (4 gal?) water heater. 110V ac. it measures 14x13x15. we picked it up and stuffed it under the sink behind the counter door. works great, heats water really fast. i was contemplating adding one for when im hooked to city water. i have no bathroom/shower in mine, so wont need much. just enough to do our few dishes while we are on the road. i plan to use the trailer just for road trips. cruising cross country and such. keeping weight down is a MUST as my tow vehicle is a 1962 AMC Rambler Classic. but i want as much convinence as possible. any thoughts on mounting something like this under the sink in the 16'er? pics can be viewed at www.picasaweb.google.com/das24rules. i hope links like that are ok. if not i appologize.

Dave,

We have a 1.9 gal. elec. W/H and it works teriffic in our eggcamper (with bath). BUT expect to pay the same for a 2 gal. W/H as a 40 gal. elec. W/H.

We have a big aluminum pot, 12" Dia x 7" tall. We fill it about halfway and then heat the water on the stove. The propane heats it really fast. Then we put a dab of dish detergent in the sink and pour some of the water from the pot into the sink. Then I wash the dishes in the sink, rinse in the pot, and the wife dries by hand. Works great, no connections to leak, no heaters to cart around. h45.gif

Same basic system I use (except for the wife part). Works great and saves on weight and maintenance issues.
