Has anyone tried to make the rear dinette area into a bunk bed so that both beds would be double size. This would give more room to sleep comfortably.
Gina D.
I haven't heard of anyone trying it. BUT.. since most of the front bunks are only rated to carry 70 lbs or so, I suspect only a child (or ME l31.gif ) would be safe on one.

A double implies an adult will be up there. Maybe making some re-enforcement poles on all 4 sides might do it. Sunk into the floor. I would be leary of supports in the wall as the only attachment.

I did it in my Boler 17ft.Made bunks into 3/4 beds.I really like it. 53.gif

How did you do it Ches?
Chester Taje
I got one picture of it.Wait a few min and I will copy and post.OK here it is.It is a poor photo. What I did was to find a old bunk bed and installed it above the original couch, which was the main bed.I found it too small so made the bunk.Really if you look hard you can see the upper steel frame.
Gina D.
so it has legs as the main support?
Chester Taje
Yes Gina.I made solid 2x4 legs. The 2 closest to side cabinents are screwed into solid wood. The back two are free standing but solid with angle brakets at the foot end.It is very strong and thats where I sleep. My wife got the bottom one.We both have reading lights.I am 6ft 1 inch and I got more than enough room.
