Here is ''Sweet 16'' (like that name better than ELF) in the mountains of Colorado last September. This was campsite for 2 weeks, it only got muddy the last couple of days.

The tow vehicle is a '96 Ford F 150 4x4 with fiberglass shell, both in dark green
Legacy Posts
Yeah, I know. Old age. mind is going.....it is a '96 Chev. PU.....wish it was a Ford.

Nice shots of your rigs, folks!

Karen ... really like the ambience of your fog/mud shot.

When the going gets tough ... the tough get going!

That nice YELLOW boat on top with cute little boler in back. have you seen the two other pictures with boats on top? one was red, the other was?? ??? maybe silver? something about a boat!! (sigh)

AND next but by no means last. Karen's fog buggy. I really liked ELF, but I know what you mean about Sweet 16, has a certain ring to it. And that picture :reye2 . for the dedicated camper for sure. :laugh. No shoes allowed in the trailer on that trip I'll bet. that's a keeper.

Taking it to town this a.m. for a car wash. Taken in our driveway. Remember the egg is really for behind our Jeep. :o

Yes Charles, I KNEW you would like that picture......we also love solitude and just being able to get back away from people and noise. That fog was like a big pillow around us and really muffled even the wildlife sounds.

Don, wooohoooo,, or should I say "yeeeehaaaaa" . Sure looks like she is wanting to go camping and doesn't care what vehicle tows her.

Larry, that is a beautiful rig.....I love the looks of the 5th wheels.

and last, but not least, Jana.;) ELF almost needed to be explained, whereas "Sweet 16" just seems to fit, plus it also fits in with what we mostly do in our Scamp (it refers to a type of shotgun).

ACH, the mud. It comes with the territory I guess. We don't usually find concrete pads in the mountains where we go, so we are used to taking our boots off outside.

Now that's a tow truck!!!!! is that a lifted F250 or a 350??? V10 I see.....ouch. A Power Stroke would get as much mileage as my 4.0 6 cylinder Ranger. If I end up working back on the road w/tools and such, I am going that route, and pulling the camper. If you do alot of towing though, my opinion is overkill pays off in a tow vehicle bigtime. (Ask Charles Watts or Speed Gray!!!)I consider my truck bare minimum for towing the 16 footer here in the mountains....and I have beefed the suspension and driveline considerably. I don't want to work the vehicle or myself that hard.

I love this picture Don, and I think you should always use this truck. it shows what we love about our TTs. They're small and go with anything. But then I love all the pictures of the TT with they're pulling buddies. such a variety, just like there is with each of us. Thanks all for sharing your photos.

F-350 V-10 4x4 Crew Cab Shortbed. The lift is 2" by way of added leafs. It came this way. The PowerStroke Diesels are many thousands $$$ more. The trade off was 4-way, I didn't have to shell out $3K (that's a lot of gasoline), put up with the noise, stink and special needs of the engine. This is a ranch truck, my tractor is Propane so I didn't need a common fuel truck. The nice thing is it gets 10-11 mpg towing anything, goosenecks, flatbeds, buses... The bad thing is it gets 10-11 mpg empty weight. The Scamp is for the Jeep I'm building.

Funny thing is the truck doesn't even notice the TT. If it weren't for the mirrors, you wouln't know you were towing anything, I have to be careful. :E

Recently I got a bedfull of fill dirt for $4. I mean a heaping bedfull, plus two railroad ties on top. The truck drove like it was empty. It unloaded like it was 3,000 pounds of dirt, one shovelful at a time...:o

Don, man, you've got to pull into some campground towing your 13-footer with the F-350.

When someone asks (and they're bound to ask) how you like towing the Scamp with the F-350 ... saying something like:

"It's ok on the flatlands, but bogs down on the hills."

PS ... I sometimes respond this way when some campground yahoo jokes about my Suburban/Casita combo.

Another line I'll use is:

"Don't let that trailer's looks deceive you. It's just a couple pounds shy of 8,000 pounds."

>>just a couple pound shy of 8,000 pounds.

Well, it is, when you add in the weight of my on-board margarita mix and fixings!

:o :o :o

I needed that!

:omy how can you deceive those poor little (little?) MH and T owners like that. :nope 8,000 lbs. :L but really - How do you keep a straight face?:m I got to practice. :yepI like it.

"Eight Thousand Pounds. Yes. Eight Thousand Pounds. It keeps the truck from flying off into orbit when I press on the gas pedal. Last time it came back down out in the desert, good thing I had four wheel drive to get home again..."

Don, that's it! You could rename your Scamp "The Anchor."

Yup, works for me.

Hi all
Some great picturies on here.I am getting real itchy wheels.Come on spring.;)

Hi Glen!

I'm guessing you tow with the first one ... the cute little blue car because it matches your pin-striping. The gold and red tow vehicles clash.:)
Legacy Posts
Chuck got it in one ! ':wave'

Why yes we do tow with that cute little supercharged hot rod ! ';)'

And Yes Chuck was right again....Because its blue matches the Casita.
Legacy Posts
Yeah right.

Note to all who don't know ... Glen also sells life-sized replicas of the Brooklyn and London bridges ... if you believe he tows with that little bitty car!

He tows with the fire-engine red Tahoe ... a retired fire captain's truck, no less.

But he enjoys toying with pix of little cars (or snappy golden ones) pretending to be hooked up to his trailer.
Legacy Posts
I was just going to say Mo, because mo is better. everybody knows that. I think I've seen that gold one before. sure does look good there, too bad it doesn't work.

Your rig is glass class at its finest.....outstanding! Enschuldigen sie bitte, I have mimicked a couple of your ideas, and since the Casita has been sterilized of graphics, it's time for some striping...some red to go with the truck. Maybe some yellow for Janifer (I have some neat caution tape........hmmm). Now if I can just figure out how to do that screen door like yours-

Phil

It all looks good Glen- but the fire truck rules....and those wheels. ;)

Phil: Don't use "CAUTION" or "CRIME SCENE" tape or you may have trouble with John Law. I used 3M 2" wide Automotive Striping Tape. Got it through local NAPA store. Be careful putting it on as it doen't come off very easily if you make a mistake! Cost: 3 rolls, black, yellow and red about 70 bucks. Enough left over to cut 1/4" strips to change original Scamp "brown" stuff to bright red.

Couldn't resist posting these after all the talk about F250's, V-10"s etc. A 14HP Tecumsah does just fine in low gear but a little slow in high on the hills!

Watchout USPS, I'm in high gear now going down hill!

This is our rig, 95 lumina and an 81 trillium 5500, and the guest suite , a 79 trillium 1300(unfortunately we had to sell the 1300). However, it does give you an idea of size differences. The Lumina has a 3.8 litre with tranny, steering and oil coolers, a self levelling rear suspension, and add-on air spring inserts

Hi Joe
Great looking Trillium. Can you post interior pictures. Does it have toilet and shower? We've only been inside one 5500 and that was before we knew what Trilliums were.

We have a 75 13' green one like your little one. Wouldn't part with it for anything.

The object of feeding the ducks was to clear a space to back the trailer into. The plan failed as seconds after this picture was taken, every duck on Coulee lake invaded the site.
Legacy Posts
Where did the picture go ? It was there yesterday!!.
Legacy Posts
Colin - I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, but I do notice that your photo filename has a space in it. Some browsers balk at displaying images with spaces in the filenames...

And I can tell you (for future reference, although in this case your image file doesn't have this problem), this website software doesn't like filenames with apostrophes, either. (No filenames like: Mary'sCasita.jpg).

You might try to upload your photo again... take the space out of the filename before you do, though!

Thanks! :cblob

p.s. I also saw it yesterday...:shg
Legacy Posts
I saw it yesterday, too. I tried taking the space out between Coulee and City, but it didn't help. :shg Sorry, I tried.

I will try again. I do not seem to have much success with messing about with file names. If it does not work this time I will re-scan the picture and give a short name and re post it. Thank you all for your patience.

Pardon the mess, we still use it in the winter, even just in the driveway. Yes it does have a bath and toidy, behind the mirrored door.Even a shower---talk about luxury!! If any one can help a dummy with a web page or a template to start from i have a lot more pics and some D.I.Y. experiences and articles. I think all Egg owners are slightly eggcentric in their methods and brilliant solutions and we all enjoy being just a little different from the average camper
