It's overweight - must weigh thirty lbs
It's under powered - it takes turn after turn on that wrench, but my 9.6 volt drill stalls out
It only contacts part of the lifted tire - tire abuse

Someone over on Casita Club told me all that, but I just wouldn't listen. :bh

Notice the wrench is designed by the Department of Redundancy Department. It has a reversing pawl for each end, but reversing such a wrench is simply a matter of turning it over. :hap2

I was just thinking of you and the tire lifter the other day ...

I stopped at JC Whitney on the way home from Starved Rock a couple of weeks ago and noticed they had the BAL device for sale at $49.

Walmart sells pretty yellow tire chocks ... I've been through several sets, because I occasionally leave one behind for the next camper.

Anyway, my wife doesn't like the look of the yellow chock under the tire ... so she has me (in my spare time) paint the yellow chocks black, so the chocks are not as noticeable.

I've found the black paint doesn't stick too well to the chocks, and I was constantly touching them up (in my spare time).

So to free up some spare time, I bit the bullet at JC Whitney a couple of weeks ago and purchased a couple of sets of pretty black chocks. (JC Whitney's warehouse, outlet center, etc, is about 40 miles from my house ... I sometimes drive up there in my spare time!)

We will use the pretty black chocks for the first time this weekend, up at Illinois Beach state park.

They are so pretty, I almost hate to get them dirty.

And if they get dirty, I imagine my wife will have me clean them occasionally, in my spare time.

I agree with Pam. The yellow chocks are aesthetically displeasing. I'm trying to visualize how much better they would look in black but, instead, I keep seeing my husband's face if I suggeted that he paint them (in his spare time). :omy

They'll be much easier to clean if you wax them before use :wink

I was kinda put off by the bright yellow plastic chocks myself but then
realized they might help prevent me from donatiing my pair to the next
camper that takes my vacated spot since I usually glance in the rearview
mirror as I pull out to make sure I've not forgotten anything. I also
bought a set of those bright yellow levelers (kinda decadent, but they
are easy to use) and figure the same principle as regards the chocks
would apply...plus, the dayglo orange carrying case might come in handy
some day as a quick to grab, highly visible emergency marker.

If you haven't already, on any chocks, if they don't have them put an eyelet on each one and attach a piece of line to the two with enough space to place the chocks. This way when you pick one up the other will come too! Just in case you haven't thought of that.

Some good ideas, folks.

Morgan, is it ok if I use spray on wax to wax my new shiny black chocks? I think it will be too hard to get the wax applicator in all the little nooks and crannies.

Jan, talk to my wife (or Kim!). The yellow chocks would look smashing under your trailer!

Bob, if I tie them together, I won't be able to donate one occasionally to the next occupant of my campsite. I know, I know, this is why Rich leaves them bright yellow, with attached flashing LED lights.

But I'm more generous than that. And believe in spreading the wealth around, like Johnny Chock Leaver (especially when they were yucky, peeling black paint, yellow things!)

Now if I could find the picture of the wheel chocks with the built in motion sensor and electronic car alarm...............
