;) Ryan, obviously we know how its done! I also put the wide flares on and frame mounted detachable mud flaps for 10" tires. Sure keeps the front of the trailer clean etc. Your original jeep rims will fit on the Boler hubs with 1" spacers and a 5.5" axle lift. You will have to cut the wheel well bigger. A set of slightly cut-down CJ rear flares look great to finish it off. We call our combination "Jeap Thrills". Do you go to any Jeep Jamborees?

Alright already. I can not handle it.:weep My wife says it is an addiction and I can not help myself, but you are torturing me. I Love Jeeps! I need a Jeep!:wub I have been working on a 1952 Willys pick-up for a long time. I thought it might be running this coming summer, but do to my job it will not. I had a Wrangler but sold it so that I could afford college and have regretted it ever since.:bh I came close 3 months ago to buying a Wrangler, but Ellie reminded me of other other possible exspenses and I decided to wait again.:bh :bh The only good thing about this now is Ellie said I could buy a Wrangler upon my return in about 6 months. Unfortunately my trailer still needs to be refurbished yet.:censor My father said he will continue to work on it while I am gone. He told me numerous people have stopped and asked if it was for sale. He even wants me to sell it to him. When I return I would like to see some close up photos of the wheel well modifications that Hans made.:jump

We've only had the trailer now for a few months (6?) so I have only just begun to toss ideas around about modifying it on the outside to match the jeep.
We had planned to go to the bobcayjeon jamboree this summer but I don't think we will be. We have booked all our vacation time this year for early October so we can go on a second honeymoon to Florida for our 5th anniversary.
Jamboree's will be in for next year.
I have a set of wide fender flares lined up for the jeep to help protect the trailer. The idea of detachable mudflaps also sounds like a good idea.
I also just worked out a deal to get a set of 4 33X10.5 BFG all Terrain KO's to wear when pulling the trailer. I really didn't like the idea of pulling a trailer on the American Interstates with mud tires.
Hans: I would love to see some info and photos about your trailer lift and wheel well mods. I wonder could you use the stock TJ fender flares on the trailer after you chop open the wells?
How does the trailer pull once it has been lifted?
One thing is for certain. I like my trailer. So far I think we have had 2 offers to buy it off us. I am almost certain we could sell it at a profit.
;)

Please detail the lift on these trailers. I am building a CJ to tow my Scamp. The Jeep build is detailed at my site. Fuel injection to be installed soon! Any info or pics would be appreciated, on the lift

He tows his Casita 16 with a Jeep and should be chiming in on this thread. He's had some really interesting experiences. (Also a vintage MG enthusiast, but those MG's are definitely not good tow vehicles.)
Hey Augie, come play!

The wheel well and lift pix have been taken. I just have to do the computer thing. (Soon) The trailer (72 Boler 13') pulls very well. Make sure you get your tongue weight right. Except for the mountain roads, I don't feel it behind me. I checked and on the boler, the tj rear flares may not work too good. They have to be cut substantially where it meets the door as well as lowered. An old pair of CJ flares were easy to modify. I used the flares as a pattern to cut the trailer glass and checked for fit with the wheel. The spacers were cut from 1" thick aluminum plate and the holes cut with lathe (centre) and drillpress (lugs) to fit the 235 ATS Wranglers. You will need long studs and racing lugnuts. This will give you 5/16" space between the tire and the inside of the well.

Square tube welded on frame. Flap bolted to square rod fits inside tube. Set screw holds it in place. Remove for 4x4 wheeling.

Most Excellent! Thanks for sharing! I think I'm gonna copy what you have done on my Scamp. Did you have to trim the fender openings?

Yes, I did have to cut the wheel well opening. I used the CJ flares for pattern and made sure the wheel would slide in. Had to jack it up a fair bit. My rims have 235 Wrangler installed.

Where did you get the locks on your cabinets and who makes them? I am still out on business and I do not get to view much, but you have alot of good ideas. I am trying to get my wife to buy me a jeep while I am gone, but she is not cooperating with me. I may have to wait until I get home. Also how do I get to the site that you mentioned "chute?".

This thread is the Chute Lake. My other thread is on pg 3 of this forum under "72 boler" upgrade.
Several companies now make these locks. One is "Hafele". We buy ours wholesale in Vancouver BC at Western Marine but any major marine and/or cabinet hardware supply store should be able to get them for you. Cost should be around US$8-9/ea. They are available in chrome, brushed stainless and brass plating. They have a snap shut and when you push the button in, the striker bar locks the door. Another push unlocks. You may need to beef up the door frame, like I had to.(3/4")
Go buy your Jeep, let her pick out the options. My next choice (when I strike GOLD) is the new RUBICON Wrangler!!!!!!!!
Drooling in BC,
Hans
Note: The push locks cost has risen to US20.-, still worth it though!

Well, I have one small problem getting a Jeep. I know some may veiw this as unexceptable, but I am in the military. I am presently deployed for awhile. Some winter vacation, not. I'm just glad that I can view this site on occasionaly. My plans have changed since I left. I told my wife that I am buying a jeep upon my return and I want to get my trailer complete. I think I deserve it after this. It would be nice to use this summer, I hope. Thanks for the info.

I hope we *never* return to those "fun days" of the late 60s and early 70s when people spat on our military.
Unacceptable? I should hope not!
Best of luck to you-- and LOTS of fun with jeep + trailer when you get back!

Well I'm back.:wave I had talked myself out of the jeep only to have had my Mother talk me back into it. I now have a Jeep Wrangler and after numerous phone calls and a lot of frustration, I have the knobs on order also. The knobs are costing $12.98 each U.S.,:omy thats bad. I plan on starting my remodeling again in a month.
