Due to heater concerns and the small trailer table, I fabricated a bedboard out of 5/8" melamine. The supply houses didn't have anything of size thinner than 3/4" so a 4'x8' sheet was a special order from a cabinet shop for 30 bucks (A 4'x4' piece will do and save some bucks.) The tough part was layout as nothing is square in these modular units. Cardboard templates and alot of measuring yielded a piece that fits juuuust right!

Not only does this shroud guard the heater from bedding, it makes a nice place for a cup of coffee in bed. The front edge was trimmed in vinyl weatherstripping and mitered at the corners. The heater switch is above.

Now the futon isn't always hanging over the edge of the board...note circled on the calendar that I already have 4 nights camping in this year during the coldest weeks in years.:wave

The Pelonis caulked into the bulkhead. It is a wonderful fire and forget weapon in the fight against chill.... no fluctuations common to many ceramics. I set the stat on 70 and let her rip! It was 15 in Chattanooga last weekend when I got to the CG, but that heater had it up to 65 in 18 minutes. The air return is visible to the right.

Phil ... would you please come by my house ... plan on spending about a week or so ... bring your blueprints (and any tools you may need).
You are really putting the pressure on us "leave em stock" folks!
Impressive stuff, man.
But, then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from a dedicated winter-camper such as yourself!

Have Mod Will Travel.
Not a bad idea, Charles. I may be seeking employ soon and if I travel, might as well be for me! I can take the show on the road- fulltime out of the Casita, and trade the Ranger for an F-250 diesel and score some tools. Wonder if there would be a market for that kind of thing..........
