I was looking for a place to mount a brake controller under the dash of my 2001 Toyota Tacoma but space was at a premium. It needed to be in a location that could be seen and operated by the driver. The only place that fit the requirements was where the ash tray is located.

Solution: Remove the ash tray and the two screws that hold the bracket. Locate the controller bracket on the ash tray bracket. Mark and drill holes for the two screws that will hold them together. Mount the bracket onto the other bracket and screw it back on the truck. then push the controller wires through a hole provided behind the ash tray pocket, etc.
