I renovated the tongue area of my trailer recently. I wanted two propane tanks and a place to store the portable grey water tank that would add weight to the tongue as the fresh water tank level dropped. The addition of a side crank jack allowed room for the double propane tanks and rack. The rack is from Cabella's and is sold as an ATV rack ($69). It is a simple receiver rack with good length wise support. The entire area was prepped and painted with Rust-Oleum "Hammered" paint.

An ATV rack? pretty smart idea. at first I thought you were taking about the crank jack (silly me) and I wondered where those bars came from. :lol if you can't laugh at yourself who can you laugh at. thanks for the ideas.

That sounds like an excellent idea. How is the ease of use compared to the top crank kind?

The side crank seems to be more ergonomical. You can stablize your upper body using the other arm on the propane tanks. No more wobbling around as you crank the jack. This new jack has an easily removable foot that minimizes cranking and allows me to toss the old dirty piece of wood I used before.

I went out and looked at my jack after you posted the pics. I was surprised to see that it was bolted on....I don't know why, but I thought it was welded on.

Did you do yours yourself? If so, how hard was it to remove the old one?

Suz ... most trailer front jacks are bolted on ... so that's it's easy to replace them if you bend one (forgetting to put it up ... or trailer shifting, etc).

As long as you get a jack with the same circumference and bolt pattern (make sure your bolt pattern is the same!), it's easy to replace with another crank jack or power jack.
