I think I read about this here in the past, but here's my version.

I found 10 in. pneumatic tires/wheels for $4.50 ea. at Harbor Freight (300 pound capacity per tire, ball bearing hub), new 5/8 in. axle at the hardware store for about $4, and a couple hitch pins. Axle spacers out of 3/4 in. CPVC.

The wheels have a bit of a hub which I mounted outboard to enable insertion of the hitch pins. I could have used cotter pins and flipped the wheels around to narrow the overall width but I wanted to be able to easily remove the wheels altogether.

Filled it with water and pulled it around the rough patch I call a back yard (Look Mildred, that crazy neighbor is running around, pulling a blue thingy in his yard!) It pulls real easy. A wide track for nimble handling! Knobby tires for all terrain traction! I'm sure they're low rolling resistance tires for improved fuel economy!

Racing stripes next? Maybe flames would be more appropriate, tho'.

How about a little chassis that would support a seat? You could ride it like a go-cart, all the way to the dump station (if the dump station's downhill from the campsite).

:omy Oh, my gosh,Steve, you are reading my mind! That is exactly what I was thinking about doing to mine. I hadn't worked out the feasibility yet, but felt like it could be done. Wow!

The only thing I didn't like about the 10 gal was those wimpy tires. Now, I have another project...just what I need! :o

Mary...I really, really like your idea.

Those flames - now those are must have!

And just the right size to fit on the side of a 15 gal. grey/black water tote tank (4.5x19 in.). I was going to put a biohazard sticker on it but these days some people don't have a sense of humor.:xx

Normal tires are about 9.5 in. in diameter so these were a pretty good fit. From Harbor Freight's web site you have to click on the Order From Catalog button to get the good deal price.
