(not sure if this is the right topic group, but here goes...)

We have been really happy with our fold-away bed solution that we made for our Liberty 17" Casita. Being able to put away our bed is an important priority for us. We like the large dinette inside - if we need to use the table as a workspace for our computers, or we really want to eat indoors due to bugs, inclement weather, or it just gets too darn late and dark outside. Also, the Casita liberty model seems very roomy inside when the bed is put away.

We use a fiberbed mattress (like a featherbed but with synthetic fiber rather than down). This is a full size mattress which is just a bit smaller than the space, but works out perfectly when made up. The mattress makes a firm bed, but much softer than sleeping directly on the cushions. We find it very, very comfortable.

Here is the bed all made up with full-sized sheets. The bottom fitted sheet just fits around the mattress and stays. No need to tuck into any seat cushions which is nice. The top sheet tucks under at the end of the mattress and protects our feet from the carpeted wall. We throw on a small polartec blanket if we think it's going to get below 70 degrees in the Casita over night.

To put it away we remove the pillows and then fold up the mattress like an accordion, and put it in a couple of stuff sacks to protect it. This is the easiest part, and it stays made up while folded which is nice. Later, when we unfold it, it is ready to use.

The mattress bundle stows very nicely behind the rear table leg of the dinette. Blankets and extra pillows are in the stuff sack shown below it. The bed is completely out of our way stowed there - doesn't interfere with leg room, and where it "peeks out" at the sides is where the side cushions of the seat backs are anyway. With the exception of a pillow, it is all stowed away here. We usually leave a pillow or two out as extra cushions when the bed is made up.

It takes just a little work to put it all away, and when it's time to get our bed back - that part is REALLY fast.

Hope someone finds this useful

Audrey

The fiberbed we use is the Hollander Clusterpuff twin-sized which we got at bed bath and beyond.

Hey, Audrey! That's pretty similar to what we do, although we cram the fiberbed and blankets onto the settee beneath the t.v. shelf, and then sit together on the other side of the big dinette.

I like your idea better, though! However, I still may just roll mine instead of using stuff sack.

We don't pick up the bedding every day, just if weather's bad (bad bugs would also qualify!) We really do like the option of using the big table in our Liberty.

I'll bet your method would work if we had dinner for four, too. (I've always figured we'd have to move the bedding to the car if we were giving someone a place to eat or read or play cards, out of the rain.)

Thanks for the idea!! :sunny
