Thanks to Hersh on Casita Club for inspiring me to finally get rid of that awful t-handle that comes on 13 and 16 foot casitas.....this is a trimark paddle latch for TT's with integral deadbolt. Suffice to say this was a real tough mod. I only tackled it after every locksmith and RV service dept refused to. Guess if you want something done in this world you must do it yourself!!

the strike is homemade from sheet steel.

I'm not clear as to what the first pic is of and on what ?

Could you "splain" that ?

Now if Phil can do this, maybe Casita will pick up on it and out class the compitition.

Now I see what you've done ! It took a lot of stairing to see what Phil did to the stricker in pic 1.

He made a "C" shaped stricker with a flange on it to wrap around the side of the original stricker.

He won't be locked out of his Casita with this set up.

Now it looks more like a new RV then a 50 year old trailer .

Great Job Phil

Hi Glen-
I called Casita prior to this to see what their recommends were (not much) and to fervently recommend an upgrade at the factory. I have wanted that sloppy/unsecure lockset gone from day one. Now for that lift job............

another major mod in the works for early july.....custom built comfo-seats for the Spirit floorplan. These guys do all kinds of custom stuff for hotrods and such- should be very trick. My 16 is now getting more livable- will be very handy if I end up back on the road, or perhaps find a lot to build on. I can fulltime for 3 seasons anyway! A satdish setup, some solar- along with an auxiliary freshwater tank and pump under the truck bed- and I should be completely independent without even CG costs to deal with. Spare propane tank and small backup battery and I'm good to go!
