After my last trip, I decided that I needed a little more privacy in my shower. What I came up with is so easy, that I really don't consider it a mod, but thought it might be helpful to some of you who are (like I was) still throwing an extra towel over the bath window at night.
I used a 1/2'' dowel rod for the roller, a couple of adhesive backed brackets, and the remnants of the lower portion of my shower curtain for the fabric.
The bracket picture is a little light, but you might be able to recognize what it is.
Shade up as valance during the day
Shade down for privacy

:yep Silly, I know. But it kept me from have to add something to the bottom. Just folded it several time and cut one semi circle...
This was so easy. Okay, so it's a bit girly, but... ;)

:yep The main reason is if I have the window up a tad for ventilation. Otherwise, it's just kind of a 'comfort zone' thing for me. ;)

I love your curtains Suz. The color red with the lace is beautiful. We really need to add some color to our Casita.
I always get nervous about the little window in the Casita bathroom. My husband thinks I'm crazy.

The bracket. Sorry, Morgan. Crummy picture. I bought several of them in a package. It's also what I used to put the rod thru for my bed skirt on my bed.
They are plastic and have adhesive backs. I believe you could find them in a home improvement store in the department where they sell cables and things. These are used for cables/wiring I believe. Once you put the cables/wires in, then you can close them over to keep it snug.
Sorry, since I didn't by them to use for their intended application, I don't remember exactly what they are called. I'll look next time I'm over there.

Hi Suz
I'd be interested to see what they look like.. It might work for me too I need something to hold up the extra shower curtain that goes over the window and back wall. The rod I'm using is held up by two suction cups that I even glued - it still comes down. I'd like to check your idea out.

I have some of those they are meant to run a small extension cord or a lamp cord etc. in to keep them neat and out of the way. Mine can either be attached with a sticky pad or they have tiny screws you can use. I got them at Home Depot.

I have a whole bin full of those cable clamps. I don't think you can find them at home improvement stores. Radio Shack has
these.

Source: :chin Maybe not, Morgan. But I hang out at those stores a lot, so I thought that is where I got them. Like maybe back over there where they have the wiring, TV cables, telephone stuff, etc.

In a previous life I was the manager of an Ace Hardware store here in Indiana. I sold clips like these in my electrical department. They were intended for holding video coax cable. Is yours about that size, Suz, or are yours a larger size?

Paul - I'm thinking it's just what you're talking about. I used a half inch dowel rod, so that tells you about what size it is. They also fit over those small spring loaded curtain rods.
They're really not very big. Also, I do know that are intended for holding either coaxal cable or wiring.
I never use stuff for what they are intended. :o
