Our table wall was missing its beautiful(?) strap trim. We were going to trim it out with wood molding but then we saw a trillium brochure posted here that showed a small shelf in this spot. This is nice as it stays put even when the bed is made. I"ve also been looking at the redos on the vintage vacations website and stole their shelf idea. I went to the extra trouble of making mine a little crooked.

That is a sweet little item. I wouldn't doubt that you milled the aluminum shelf in your own machine shop all by yourself.

In case you didn't do that and just bought the thing, how much was it and where exactly didja getit?

Thanks, Tom. This item requires a long narrow piece of plywood (3/4" birch left over in this case & I rounded the front corners), aluminum table edge (Lowes $5.00) And aluminum stock. I got the upper edge stock at Lowes for $2.00 and the upright pieces were made out of wider heavier stock found at local hardware for $3.00. (I may have been the only person to ever buy aluminum there. The guy said," are you gonna buy a lot of that? 'cause if you are I'll have to restock.") I cut it with bolt cutters and used a grinder on the edges. The rest designed itself. The upper piece is a little too short. I didn't want to go back to the store so I decided I'd live with imperfection. It's attatched to the trailer with drywall screws. Hey I didn't put that smiley there. Are they just running wild now? The little side pieces are small strips of plywood, rounded bottom, aluminum edge.

I see how the vertical pieces are held on at the bottom, but how are they attached to the top piece?

I used my current favorite glue called plumbers goop. I had intended to screw them on but I switched horses in mid stream as I thought it looked better. The two ends are bolted with washer and lock nut.

Thanks so much, Maggie! I am a lover of hot sauces, and all those tall-neck bottles keep falling out of the wire "shelves" Casita provides over the sink/stove area. But what if I designed a TALL shelf like yours and pop-rivetted it to the wall at the same place your shelf is fastened? The old wheels are turning and that's probably the smoke you're smelling! Thanks a bunch.
