Casita makes an add-on conversion. They call it a 17' FD. ;)

I'd buy a 17' in a heartbeat, but it's all my poor Tracker can do to tow my 16'...so until I upgrade to a new pickup....and I'm sure this mod would be a little cheaper.:violin

That really looks trick!! Don't worry about the aerodynamics. If it's what you want, so what? It's your TT!!

I do hope however that you made a pattern of the curvature of the side of the TT for others to use, presumably for a modest donation to the tool fund!!

AARGH! I just KNEW that would come up!! No, I'm afraid I didn't. My excuse is that depending on how much your roof has settled (and they all do settle to a certain degree), the curvature of each egg will differ somewhat, and with these pieces, close isn't close enough. (As the roof settles, the sides bulge).

To make them, I leveled the trailer precisely, then clamped the 2x6 to the camper such that it was perfectly vertical. Then I used a compass to scribe the profile onto the 2x6. Cut it out with a sabre saw, staying just on the "too big" side of the line. Then I used a belt sander to feather the fit till it was just right.

I like your door and can appreciate the amount of work that it took. If you want to clean it up aerodynamically you can take some 5 minute epoxy and glue blocks of blue styrofoam to the trailer body then carve, shape, or hot wire it so that you create a fillet. When you have the shape that you want, you would then fiberglass over it with a few layers of 6-8 oz. glass/epoxy. I have done several full size aircraft fiberglass projects using this technique. Of course I realize that this an oversimplification and it requires a lot of effort.

Hello, I too live in Dayton, Ohio.:wave I have a 1978 Trillium 1300. I was trying to rebuild it, but a friend is now helping me get My 1952 Willys Pickup going. My trailer is now awaiting its turn.:sad I just learned that I am getting promoted, but not until next June. I was beginning to think about buying a new Scamp or Trillium. I would love to have a gathering nearby if possible. If there is anything that I could help you with let me know.

Paul have looked at your photos of the inside a hundred times always looking for up dates on your progress, saw this thread of the door , WAY TOO GO NICE JOB!!! how about some pictures of the inside finished and tell us about your maiden voyage with osmo up date on the rest of your progress including the outside!!!
