Our "new to us" Trillium has a couple of amateur logos painted on it. I think that they are done in automotive paint. I would like to remove them or perhaps even cover them up, but ....

I need to remove them without harming the fiberglass finish or cover them with something that will withstand the rigors of average use and outdoor storage.

The main one on the door is about 16" square with 2 smaller 6" square logos on the back quarters.

Any ideas?

hummm, wonder if acetone would touch it. Acetone doesn't harm gel coat. I know members have used a hair dryer to soften the glue for vinyl graphics...but that won't work on paint. In order to get paint hot enough to scrape it off, you'd soften the fiberglass too. There are commercial paint strippers you could try in a hidden very small area to see if that would soften the fiberglass/gel coat.

Paint removers melt gell coat!

If the gell coat is unpainted, or if it's like imrom, then MEK will remove the paint logo.

RemoveALL 600 series is safe to use on painted fiberglass. Find it a little more than halfway down on this page: RemovALL™ by Napier Environmental

Spray some WD40 on the sticker and let it sit for a couple of minutes then peel them off. I don't think this will harm the finish but you may want to check it out before apply the spray.
