The table tops are sized to fit the seats in most to give the ability to make another bed, but if you're not interested in using the dinette as a bed, you can make an easy and inexpensive mod to give yourself a new, narrower, and (IMHO) better looking table top. I posted this pre-hack, but thought it might be worth re-posting now.

Lifetime "Personal Tables" have a top that is just about the right size, and has a more rounded shape than the standard small front dinette table tops. You lose some table space, but gain some "slide-in" space with it.

In my Burro, it was a simple mod as the front table was supported by a single pedestal pole. All I had to do was remove the pedestal mount from the existing tabletop and screw it back onto the base of the "Lifetime" table top, after removing the Lifetime leg assembly.

My Scamp came from the factory with a table top that is a good 12" too short to make the bed. Instead that 12" was provided as an extra piece that resides underneath one of the seat cushions when not in use. When I make the table down into bed mode, the extra piece is then used. Kinda best of both worlds. It sure makes it easy to get in and out of the table area..and I'm not exactly a skinny person

Here is our new front sofa/table conversion. We used a piano hinge so the whole thing drops down flat against the wall if we want to put the center back in.

Donna, any way you could post a picture of your table and the extra piece or I wonder if you can order a table like that. I'd love to try something similar with our table. I'm a big man and it's tough for me to get in and out of our sitting area. If our table was smaller and more comfortable to sit, I'd be pretty happy. But, we use our bed all the time because our kids like to bring friends camping. Thanks.

This is our compromise shape which gives us a generous-sized table and still allows us to get in and out easily. Doesn't work to support a bed, but I would bring along the old one if it became an issue.

The piano hinge also allows us to lift the table all the way UP flat against the wall so the person sitting near the stove can get in easily. Of course then the other person has to do the waitress work.

Karen, just as a quick aside, what`s on the walls of your trailer, and did you do the install or did it come with that wall covering? Benny

The inside of the Companion was covered with gold shag carpet and brown paneling. We replaced all of the carpet and some of the paneling and then painted to match the new carpeting. The configuration of everything IS slightly different than what was original. And I might add, much improved.
