What I was really trying to say is that the vans are built by Daimler/Chrysler the newish company that is Mercedes/Dodge/Freightliner etc.
They are built in Germany and the quality really shows from the inside.
All of the Technicians over here that work on them are specially trained to do so but with so little actual experience they are still somewhat inept at it.
The Sprinter came over first with a Freightliner badge and thus those dealers do have the most qualified service people so far but the consumer Dodge dealers are largely in the dark about them.
My friend and I did actually consider hacking a sunroof or even a large skylight into his Sprinter which is also a window model but the roof was not something we wanted to destroy to do so.
It turned out that they recallled the air conditioning units on the Sprinters of his vintage and replaced them with a different style unit all together and we would have ruined his chance to get the new AC unit had we installed anything on the roof.
We have driven his Sprinter all over the Midwest in all kinds of weather and it is a fantastic vehicle. Somehow it handles well even in bad wind and weather even though it would seem that you are driving a giant sail. It gets great mileage and has a lot of torque at all speeds.
They make a 1 ton version with dual rear wheels that would be great for towing and I have seem some doing so. The only oddity with towing anegg with one is that they are larger than most eggs by far and I thin they are bigger inside than my Trillium 4500.
On the other hand I have not let reason interfere with my Eggstacy so far....so why stop now?!?
