Did you know that Clicking on a member's username takes you to their
User Profile.
From their User Profile you can
Send them an e-mail (if they allow it) or
Personal Message (PM).

This reminds me to ask a question. When I receive an email sent via FGRV, it does not contain the sender's email address (unless they think to type it into the message) and the message appears to come from the FGRV server. My question is: if I just hit 'Reply' like to an ordinary email, when the reply reaches FGRV, does it know how to route the reply to the original sender?
The only time this happened (ie, email, not PM) I couldn't see anything embedded in the email header that would enable FGRV to do this, so I didn't see how I could reply to the person.

hummm, I won't be much help as I see the senders e-mail address in the header of the message. Wonder if that's because I have a Yahoo account using Yahoo mail and perhaps Andrew, you're using a different e-mail application like Outlook???

Yeah, Andrew, I'm with Donna on this one: I know we have things set up so the
sender's email address is (or should be) provided to the e-mail's recipient.
This is in part to prevent abuse: you can't e-mail someone without them knowing where it came from... Or, that's how it's supposed to work.
Anybody else have any pertinent feedback on this?

Could it be you have your email client set up to abbreviate the headers? (I'm just guessing here, and trying to figure out why it's not working for you the way we expect it to.)
Thanks for your help!

When I look at an e-mail message in Hotmail, sent by a FiberglassRV member presumably using the e-mail link in the forum, I see it like this:
From: FiberglassRV <john.doe@someISP.com>
Subject: Interesting Stuff ( FiberglassRV )
where "john.doe@someISP.com" is the actual e-mail address of the sender, and "( FiberglassRV )" is always added on the end of the subject. If a different e-mail client shows only the display name, it will show only "FiberglassRV", and it will look like the sender's own e-mail address is not available.
In Hotmail, I can't get the name (FiberglassRV) to show without the address (<john.doe@someISP.com>), but that's just Hotmail's design. If I hit Hotmail's Reply button, the new message is correctly addressed...
To: john.doe@someISP.com
Subject: RE: Interesting Stuff ( FiberglassRV )
In Outlook Express, I get only the name (FiberglassRV) displayed (unless I use the File/Properties command), but if I compose a reply it is properly addressed, and if I include the original message text it includes...
From: "FiberglassRV" <john.doe@someISP.com>
Subject: Interesting Stuff ( FiberglassRV )
It works fine, and I believe as intended, but presenting the sender's name as just "FiberglassRV", instead of something like "John Doe - FiberglassRV" may confuse the issue, and individual e-mail clients may not handle the header information in a clear fashion.

Yup, OK, now I get it - Eudora showed the header in exactly the same way - my problem being that the sender's email address was not obviously a personal address and having the 'Fiberglass RV' nickname written in front confused me.
It'll now be a couple of years till this happens again and, by then, the memory fog will have set in again......
Thanks,
Andrew

Well, just remember we talked about something having to do with email sent directly from the board. Then you can use the
Search function to find this topic again!

also.. offside note..
If you click on the "Card" tab just below the user name and/or avatar in a post, all the pertianent contact info they have allowed pops up instantly.. no need to load the entire profile page.
Same with the "PM" tab.. no clicking thru 3 pages to get to the PM section.
