I have been watching Ebay lately and have came accross some side windows for my Boler measuring (31 1/4"w x 23 1/2"H). The cut out size is a 29 5/8"W x 22"H.

Now I have not pulled out my windows yet but the size of the wiondows are 27" x 19"

I figure no problem I can trim the fiberglass for the new windows....right! ?

I guess my biggest concern is how they mount. With our walls only being around 1/4" thick can they mount properly into our trailers without a gap or no leaks? I emailed the seller to see if he knows but have not heard back yet.

I know there has been some discussion as to upgrades but have not found something addressing the fitment.

The windows generally drop in the rough opening from the outside and are held in place from the inside with a clamp ring. Screws spaced about 4 inches apart screw through the clamp ring into a track running around the inserted window, hence "the clamp". You prevent leaks by bedding the exterior frame with butyl caulk. Avoid using silicone. If you can't make it tight, say because your clamp ring was meant for walls 2 inches thick, you must insert some wood shims, or buy a different clamp ring.

• If no clamp ring is included you'll have to try ordering one from the manufacturer, like I had to, so watch out for that very big expense.
• Manufacturers will not make you a custom clamp ring for "emergency exit windows."

If the window is flat and the egg wall is curved, you got a problem to solve. Length of the sheet metal screw needed will depend upon the depth of the clamp ring and the wall thickness. Drilling into that track allows use of longer screws when necessary. If this doesn't help, find my post, Installing Windows.

thanks for your help. I have since discovered that I cacnnot go any wider than stock anyway so these (above) windows are out. Any wider hits the curve and the closet. The hunt continues....

Sunview is in Summerland and they produce 40,000 RV windows a year. most of the guys I know that have replaced their windows get them from there so they are very familiar with Boler windows.

They were not cheap but they are at least brand new with no faults or flaws as you could possably get in used windows, and they weight about half a much as the originals. They are very easy to mount with no rivets involved through the shell.

There are only 3 RV dealers here so no salvaged windows to be had. These dealers are next to usless.

Installing windows with clamps. Even though they are commonly made for thicker walls - you can commonly flip the clamp around and install it backwards. That will make it fit a very thin wall. I did this for the PlayPac when I replaced all the windows. They were all eBay finds and required a little trimming to fit.

The other thing to keep in mind if swapping windows on the cheap is the corners. If your stock windows are square cornered and the replacements are radius cornered... There'll be holes to fill. It's a hassle - but can be worked with.
