We decided to take a break from our dinette project 'cause we needed to do some thinking about the table details. While working on the dinette we were thinking about how we were going to do the shelving we wanted in the closet.

As shown in the picture below we added a lower access door. The opening was trimmed with scamp fiberglass edge trim. By calling Scamp we discovered this product is is something they have made for them. (Cost is $2.50 per 4ft stick....plus shipping, OUCH!....so try to bundle with other order needs.)

We decided to go with the adjustable track type shelf supports with wire rack shelves.
Four support tracks, 3ft long each were mounted vertically on the side walls of the closet; two toward the front and two to the rear of the closet. We used three machine screws from the out side with nylon core locking nuts inside on each track. Be sure to take the position of the shelf cross wires into account when positioning the the vertical tracks . We used the small bases and finish caps to dress the exposed screw heads.

We chose wire rack shelving for the increased ventilation it provides. solid shelving would be ok too. The product was 16in wide "linnen" shelving.....fewer wires = easier to shape. The closet space will almost take the 16 inch depth shelf on the lower section of the closet.
The upper section narrows to perhaps 13 inches. Consequently all the shelves have to be narrowed....some more, some less. this was accomplished by one of two methods.

If only a little narrowing was needed the back row of wires were twisted sequentially, a little bit at a time, to obtain the desired shape. If several inches of narrowing was required, the back of the shelf was bent up at the desied point to get the needed narowing.
Getting the shelves adjusted is a bit fussy and takes some tweaking.

The four shelves were installed upside down to provide a retaining lip at the front of the shelf. The support clips that lock into the vertical tracks didn't fit as snuggly as we wanted so the lower tab was tweaked a tiny bit to make them tighter. This does make them harder to install. Hopefully they will not become dislodged when being towed.

Closet door installed. Job done. Now, back to the front dinette and rear dinette table.

as we hav'nt decided wether to have a removeable table or go the hole route and remove the bunk.

The closet turned out well, we're pleased.

Next is the rear dinette table. The original table had absorbed moisture and swelled around the edges. We decided to rebuild it with a shortened format. It is about 2/3 legnth and 3/4 done. Trim, fit, and finish remain.

Will show it when it is done and installed.

SO nice!!!!!! Wow. Our little closet beside the door only has a clothes hanger pole in it. I thought- who hangs their clothing on a camping trip? I want shelves in there, and then hubby and I could each have a "drawer" to put our clothes in- we could use those fabric baskets from Target- or a wicker one.

Do you have photos of your front dinette area. We just bought a used '98 13'Casita and would like to make a modification to the front bunk area turning it into a small dinette. Could use some help on this and encouragement.
