Here's a little useless information....... Cilantro:..thr leaves and seeds of the Coriander or Chinese Parsley plant Used in China as early as 5000BC. AS early as 75 AD Roman botanist Pliny The Elder wrote that the best Coriander came from Egypt. Used in Mexican cooking, curry powders, and in Russia and Scandinavia in liquors. Often added to salsas and canned chili sause. Cilantro also turns up unknown to most as a flavoring in Giun and Vermouth. Two thumbs up

I love eating and cooking with cilantro.
I don't like growing it cuz its, ah, scent/aroma, conflicts with my other herbs and flowers. My husband always wants me to plant it. I told him that I couldn't afford to because they sell it so cheaply in the store.

We do a lot of Hispanic cooking. Cilantro is A #1! Carnitas, salsa etc. wouldn't be the same without it.

Yes, Yes, and it is great in salad. It is better than parsley in almost every dish that calls for parsley.
It is almost as important to a healthful diet as is garlic.

I love parsley and am growing to like cilantro- it is overpowering in some things, but I agree that it adds a nice touch to green salads. All this food talk is making me hungry...anybody ever tried it in scrambled eggs? I think I'll go do that right now & let you know later

That'l teach me to get on the computer BEFORE breakfast.... Actually, I added a little shredded cheese. salt. pepper and about a teaspoon of fresh chopped cilantro to my scrambled egg (1 egg) this morning and put it in a toasted whole wheat English muffin- it was wonderful! Maybe not something to do every day, but it sure was a tasty alternative to the same ole same ole....
Wonder how many other things I should be trying it in?

My nomination for new controversial vegetable is eggplant. Although I'm not sure it's a vegetable; seems like some low form of animal life to me. I'm sure it's not a fungus, some of them are right tasty.

Actually that's quite good, Potteralice. That's the way my wife makes it. I strip off the crusty batter and eat that.
I'd rather have the batter wrapped around chicken.

I love cilantro and, because I am into holistic health, I make sure to always include it in making tuna salad because it binds with heavy metals, thus preventing them from getting stuck in the body's tissues when eating canned (tinned) fish and fish that naturally (or by virtue of human contamination of water bodies) contains heavy metals.
Cilantro is used in many commercially sold heavy metal cleanse products for this very reason. An excellent herb!
