This "how to" may be of interest to anyone thinking of retrofitting a front bath into a Scamp or Boler. This may also work with other models but may take more custom fitting. The nice thing is all of the parts to put in a front bath are available directly from Scamp. The downside is it somewhat expensive and a fair degree of work.
We bought our standard model 13 ft Scamp new and try as we might, Scamp would not install a shower surround and floor into a standard model for some reason? So we purchased the parts ourselves and set about to the task. The parts costs as follows: surround $103, Tub/floor $153 and if you want the shurflow pump, rivets, switch and hose/connections that will add up to another $100 or so. These parts are light weight, but for shipping purposes they are so bulky that shipping would be expensive so pickup is best if you are going to be anywhere near the factory.
Installation was relatively easy. It took us a long weekend to install the tub and surround. We had to remove the toilet (4 bolts, waterline and holding tank vent), Remove all door and trim work, pull out the carpet, paint and seal the bare floor, cut the holes for the toilet, shower drain and window, then install the floor and surround using screws and rivets. I still haven't decided how I'm going to hook up the water and drain lines. For now we have a portable water heater so we can take it and a bucket of water into the shower stall to shower. The water will drain out the bottom through a hose connected to the shower drain and flow directly to the campsite sewer dump. My wife really likes her bathroom and since it is just the two of us the front bath/shower options really works for us.

I don't understand Scamp not wanting to put in the shower stall in the 13' standard either...only in the deluxe. Wonder what the big deal is....it's not like you're going to have wood in the shower area!

What they said was the 13 ft deluxe goes down a different assembly line and it would be disruptive to build something the regular line did not normally do. I think they want you to buy the deluxe myself . When I did the factory tour I asked one of the mechanics what it takes to install a floor and surround and they said it is about an hour of extra work. It took me 2.5 days because I had to rip everything apart. Oh well it's done now

Wow, Evan thanks for sharing! We will be adding a shower/toilet combo to our 17' Burro and I have struggled with the design (in my head) for months. We will be cutting our kitchen area in half, placing the bathroom directly across from the entrance door, and adding a counter with stove and refrigerator just inside the entrance door on the left.

Purchasing the tub surround from Scamp may be a great option but my area dimensions are very limited. Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the tub/floor? Why is that area raised where the toilet would sit? Is there a tank under that area? We have the same throne (toilet) that you have, would the tank go under that raised area of tub/floor?

The dimensions for the tub/floor unit is 50.5in. X 26.5in., 26.5 being the widest point. Of course the corner is rounded so the dimemsions varies. The raised area is where the frame (no tank under there) of the Scamp is higher than the rest of the floor so the fiberglass tub is raised up in this area. Scamp does make a square tub/floor for the side baths that may work better for you. It has a flat bottom so the toilet sits flat on the floor.
