Click to view attachmentI was interested in the awning Kevin A mentioned, but was not sure of the size, nor how I would go about attaching to my trailer. Then, up popped this one at K Mart this week:

My awning arrived Tuesday from The Bus Depot. I'll set it up this Saturday and take some pictures.

I see guide ropes on the one from K mart.. i suppose one could tie one side around the case awnings if you had one, if not i dont really know how well it would work.. then the other two ties staked to the ground.... I didnt see any at our K mart but might go over to see if they have one just to be curious.........How sturdy these are I dont know....
Kevin.. yes be sure to show us how well yours will work

I did fork out my $24.99.....but just happened to be over in Oregon that day....and, since I work over there and already give them my 10%

, don't feel bad about making purchases there.
I will bring the canopy to the Northern Oregon Gathering...put it up and take pics...also, then think about ways to maybe attach it to the trailer for and aft.

Just a note about nylon as a shade/heat screen.
It casts a bit of shade, but does not do much to keep the heat out.
My screen room has a ripstop roof, and altho it is substancially cooler in there in the direct sun, it still isn't as effective as a regular awning.
Think back to your tent days and how hot it got inside in the mornings when the sun came up.
I like it as a sunscreen. Keeps the bright light subdued.

Gina,
What are "regular awnings" made from? Canvas? I've been thinking of making an awning. I might want to change what type of material I use.

I'm not Gina, but I'll respond anyway.
If I was to make an awning I'd use sunbrella.

Byron just wishes he wuz as purdy as me...
Sunbrella, or some sort of canvas type material, waterproof.
There is a material sold in DIY stores for home awnings. It is pourus, which makes it light weight. There have been a couple folks here that made one from this stuff.
I personally am working on making my umbrella a hanging awning, using PVC as the poles. Something that snaps together real quick.
The former owner of my Burro extented the rear bumper and the cross brace is made from hollow square tubing. I am still trying to figure out how to use that to my advantage.

No, I have not put the awning up yet; haven't gone camping. I will be going to Lake Billy Chinook the weekend before the Northern Oregon Gathering, so will put it up then. Don't know if I will have a chance to post pic before the next weekend...but you can/will see it at the Northern Oregon Gathering, as well.
