Hey, everybody!

We've consolidated all of the posts on sales scams (ebay, craigslist, etc.) into a single topic in our General Chat forum.

If you want to report experience(s) or knowledge of such scams, please do so in the Scam Chat topic.

Using this single topic to discuss these scams will make the reports easier to find if someone wonders about a particular ad.

It will also help keep the rest of FiberglassRV.com focused on the more positive aspects of camping with small, molded fiberglass travel trailers.

Good idea Mary,

May I suggest you make the topic a "sticky" in the Referals:For Sale section? That way one could easily compare the latest scam sighting to the latest referal sighting.

Thanks for the suggestion, Roy. We did consider doing that, but decided to put it as a "sticky" in General Chat. Gina's (very well written) warning about these scams was already a sticky in For Sale - Referrals, and we thought it should stay there. Putting the general discussion in General Chat amounts to a warning in each of those two forums.

Another consideration is, we don't want FiberglassRV.com to (try to) become the place to verify whether any given or particular auction or advertisement is a scam. None of us feel like we have the resources to provide an exhaustive, up to date list. (What if we missed listing some of them?)

What we do want to do is help everyone learn how to recognize a scam when they see one! Thus Gina's post...

And if these scams get more sophisticated (or morph into different forms), we welcome further discussion about it! ... in a centralized place... so everyone can find the thread if they have something to report. It's a HOT topic... or may be again soon.
