Saw these (and bought these) at Costco today. Perhaps a great solution for a reading light. Adjustable angle of light and rotatable. Should create a bright reading light suitable for a newspaper.

A three pack for $13. Very bright. Push on - push again for dimmer - again for off. 3 AAA batts. Alleged 60 hour batt life.
