I framed, with wood, the windows in our Scamp. After it was done, I was somewhat surprised and more than a little embarassed to find that the seat backs for the rear dinette/bed would not fit under the new frames in the dinette mode.

This was especially true for the window on the street side, which in our unit is made to pop out for emergency exiting. That window has a larger frame than the one on the curb side.

So, rather than modify the frames, I decided to taper the seat bottoms. This was easy to think about, but a little more difficult to do. I ended up using a electric steak knife to do the carving. The foam looked pretty "hacked" before I modified and installed the covers, but the covers hid all of the foam hacking.

The best thing about the end result is the comfort in the seating. It is amazing how much the tapered seat cushions add to the comfort when sitting. Since these are the end cushions, for sleeping we will get some thicker pillows than we regularly use. For the foot end, it won't matter.

I don't think I have seen this mod described on this forum before. But it sure turned out good for us.
