Hi--
We have a few years old Scamp and some of the button-like fasteners on the exterior seem to be coming up a bit. Does anyone know how to handle this? I was thinking of just caulking around them but thought maybe I'd better talk with someone who knows what they are, what they do, and how they work! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Billy L.

You can replace your buttons by ordering from Scamp... if you need new plastic rings too they can also send those.. I do believe you have to remove the rivits to replace the rings that the caps snap on to

I found this to show how the whole rivit/snap cap/"button" assembly is made. I think that if the exterior "button" is loose, it may indicate that the rivit inside is loose.

The caps and seats deteriorate from UV over time (but the rivets may not be loose if there is still an undamaged portion of the seat between the FG and rivet head) -- The perfection solution is to replace the rivets, seats and caps (Actually, the real perfection solution is to replace them all), but if the rivet isn't loose, the Good-Enuf solution is to put a dab of white silicone over the rivet and seat to shield the seat from further damage and seal the rivet from leakage.
