I am replacing my Electrical cover and as I took everything off....there was some type of
seal that was on between the cover and exterior that is just powder now...

My question is what is the best sealant to use with the new piece...Silicon? or is there another that is recomended for our Fiberglass rigs...

Not sure what you mean by electrical cover. Butyl caulk tape, is that what you are looking for?

You might want to consider a couple options. Purchase a electrical hatch, complete with gasket and all mounting hardware. They are extremely cheap at Camping World

The other option is not so cheap, but where power cord goes through it would all be sealed. You can go to Camping World to see it.

What is now powder was probably about a 1/8" thick foam cover gasket that comes with the exterior receptacle cover when new....normally it`s not glued on .....Benny

The cover I got did not come with a gasket or hardware...

is also a little bit larger than the orig so I will have to enlarge the opening

is there a gasket material that I can purchase...the one at camping world is the same thing...just the cover..no gasket or hardware...

is there a screw that is preferred.one that wont rust over time?

If this is the type of cover you mean, use butyl tape behind it, and rivet it in place with 3/16 blind rivets.

What I did when my elec entrance door started disintegrating was buy a new set the same size and just put the new door on the old entrance, but nothing seemed to be leaking.

this one is the same size as mine on the exterior..the interior tube is larger...

the holes line up as well..
