Yes, at 45 lbs that InFlame unit is way too heavy for me to want in the Boler, but the more general idea of using gelled alcohol as fuel for an indoor fire might be interesting, for those who really must have flames for a cozy setting.
Anything burning a hydrocarbon fuel (which includes both propane and alcohol) will produce both water vapour and carbon dioxide, and potentially carbon monoxide. I would take "no vent" with a grain of salt... it's really just no
directly connected vent.
I'm not a fan of candles, but I'm not sure this is necessarily better; I suppose it would depend on how the gelled alcohol is handled and contained.
By the way, my wife recently mentioned the she heard of a tabletop version of this idea - burning alcohol in some sort of tray full of rocks - so it is apparently a current design trend.
