the most likely time for me to lose my keys is when I am out with the trailer! This would be NO help at all..
But maybe for those that have put a receiver hitch on the back of their trailer...this would be useful at those times Gina 
I think the invention of having the alarm/auto lock on the keyfob is the greatest invention for not locking yourself out of a vehicle. Gotta have the keys in your hand to lock/unlock and set the alarm. Works for me!

I would have to have it tattooed on my arm. And then I would forget I had the tattoo.
Nope for me the true comfort of a heavy weight of keys in my pocket lets me know where they are.

looks like a fairly good invention to me.. but i would make sure i had all my extra keys put in there at home.... if anyone saw ya doing that on the road... no telling what they might do.. sneaking up behind ya etc... I dont think i would keep my credit cards in there . I am always misplacing my keys ...... I have locked myself outta the pickup while i am warming it up tho.. so i get the one outta the house... I have a clasp on my key chain so i hook it to my belt loops that way i know where they are...
The only comment I have about the 'Hitch Safe' is the rubber cover.
I have had two removed from my hitch since my vehicle was new. Either they won't stay on or are stolen when the vehicle is parked.
If a thief finds your safe, it appears to easy to open. I look at it as just a waste of money like the Hi-Jack steering wheel lock bars. All it takes is a hammer and a determined thief.

I had the same thought, Miriam 
I do the door locks manually, punching the door buttons, so it's possible to lock the door with the keys inside. I don't use the electronic key because my hood switch is slightly out of adjustment, I'm too frugal to go to the Ford place where they have the special test box (it alarms if it's too far up OR too far down) and I'm too lazy so far to use a meter on it.
What I do, because it seems to be that as I get older, I lock myself out of the truck more often, is carry a spare (flat) key in my wallet, and follow a RIGID rule that the key goes back in my wallet as soon as it has been turned in the lock, plus the wallet goes back in my pocket before I open the door. So far, I haven't let both my keys and wallet in the truck, but sooner or later it will happen, so I will put another key somewhere...
It won't be in one of those magnetic boxes, because I have already lost one from my previous truck, bouncing around on back roads I guess.

There is nothing really easy about those 4 wheel combinations, they are more difficult to open than what one would think. I would be more concerned about the inside of the lock getting corroded and not working at all.
There is a better solution. Harbor Freight sells small digital safes for less than $40 when on sale. They have an electronic key pad where U put in your own combo and it can be from 1 to 8 digits long. Just incase the battery goes dead or you forget the combo, you pry off a panel and use one of those round keys to open.
Bolt it to the floor in the under the seat storage area and U have a place to put those items you want to protect from the thief that breaks in.

I just ordered a hitch pin draw bar lock with a combination. This is the result of the layout of my new Odyssey hitch and electrical outlet as you can see in the picture. There just wasn't enough room for the key-locking pin I currently have without moving the electrical plug over another 2" inches. And it doesn't have enough room to slide the pin in from the left side either. So another $20 to the God's of Trailering.
BTW, the Honda salesman said I should expect for my rubber Honda hitch plug to be stolen at some time!

Back in the day when tail light lens were held on by screws you could actually see, one strategy was to tape a key inside the lens, then all you had to do was carry a screwdriver in your pocket and you could never be locked out!

I had a Reece hitch plug 'go missing' in the past. I just bought a plain black logo-free hitch plug for my Volvo for $1.50 from U-haul. It does tidy up the rear end! And at that price I can replace it if needs be.
