Gee, thanks, guys... 29.gif

We bought our Trillium in late fall, so it sat all winter, and we did nothing with it. I joined this group and have been showing Don picks and going over some things that folks have done to their RV's.

Well, a couple weeks ago I came home to a roll of linoleum in my porch, and I was told that the carpet has been ripped out of the trailer.

Last week he tried out something to clean up the outside, and it looks much better, now.

He had told me before that he wanted to paint the cupboard doors, to freshen it up. Now that has changed to making new ones. He had me in there measuring, and writing down stuff, and putting it all on a spreadsheet for him!!

And he is squinting at the door, and mumbling about "screening" and a new door..

This trailer was picked up for one big trip back east that we are doing this summer, and has now become a project.....Is this only the beginning? Where and when does it stop?

Nicole,
Congratulations on being the proud owners of your Trill. aplas.gif
You might as well join in the fun! Having been exposed to this forum, there's no turning back.
Stop? OH.gif Sorry, but the end is nowhere in sight 52.gif In fact, for some folks, once they've discovered this source of enjoyment they move from one project trailer to another.
The goal should now become... camping between projects. 53.gif
Welcome to the "disease" of FGRV ownership and an entire new way of life. Try to squeeze in a rally before your planned trip, so you can physically meet some of the wonderful people who have also been infected. 94.gif
Enjoy the ride, it's only just begun..., 4.gif

confuse.gif When you find out, will you let me know? I've had mine five years and there are still things that I would like to do.

.. in fact, I'm already modifying (on paper) a new one that I haven't even bought yet.

Ha Ha--Ha-Haw Haw Haw!!! We purchased ours last August and worked on it almost every day for 8 months. We took it out for the first time this week. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun and very well worth it. If you would like to see pictures go to www.photoshow.com/view/Gx3An9uV Good luck. Roger and Bonnie

It's a camper, silly! It stops at campgrounds whenever you want it to!

As for the tweaking and tuning and changing, Lynne and I bought our Scamp 5th wheel last December, and pretty much knew we'd be re-arranging the gaucho and loft to make way for additional drawers and other storage and to spin the bed to run the "long" ways instead of side-to-side. (We have more sleeping room this way.)

That project is well underway. The bed is spun and we even took it out this weekend for a run out to Cannon Beach in Oregon. (I had to go see the puffins!) Today I'll be making drawer fronts for the four drawers in our new chest-of-drawers setup, and once those are stained up and all pretty I'll post new pictures. But what else have we done? What else do we plan to do?

So far we've
  • Installed a little flat screen TV
  • Installed 12v outlets in dinette area
  • Re-worked the kitchen drawer, replacing the back & bottom with a wire-mesh divider
  • Installed a locking twist connector & removable shore power extension cord
And here's our to-do list (so far):
  • Finish drawer fronts
  • Make a coat-hanger mount for the space over our (new) laundry hamper
  • Carpet the steps to the loft and the dog kennel (under the loft)
  • Trim the loft platform
  • Install a trim piece at the back edge of the laundry hamper
  • Make & install drawers under top step to loft
  • Make & install setup/tool box that goes under bottom step to loft
  • Make and install a drawer under middle step to loft
  • Make and install a closet with hanging space in the loft at the foot of the bed
  • Install rat fur on loft platform
  • Make new overhead cabinets for loft
  • Make a valance for the loft windows with curtains and blackout shades
  • Install new lighting and 110v/12v outlets in loft
And that finishes the loft, but wait!
  • Make vacuformed plastic cold-cathode light fixtures for kitchen, dinette, & loft
  • Make a folding dinette table
  • Convert the dinette to a "U" seating arrangement with angled seat backs
  • Get new foam & upholster the "U"
  • Make an overhead cabinet for the dinette
  • Install AM/FM/TV tuner/stereo system over dinette
  • Install new countertops and add a new, two bowl sink with cutting board covers
  • Make kitchen cabinet doors to match all the new drawers & cabinets
And
  • Install TV/cable TV antenna connector & TV antenna mount
  • Fabricate stabilizers to reduce trailer "rocking" while camping
  • Install LED setup lighting at docking connectors and hitch
  • Install 12v solar power system
And . . . I'm sure there's more. There's easily enough stuff on my list to keep me busy until I retire and then some.

One last note, by the way. Our trailer is just two years old!

Buying the trailer is just the beginning . . .

Sorry Nicole...there is no cure! Our little Trill just returned from three months in Florida...with a long list of MORE mods for the summer. This is a real addiction. There should be a 12 step program for us eggers. Warning! Don't go to Rallies. Therein lurks more projects!
All kidding aside, "The Road Toad" has given us more fun per cubic inch than any other RV we've owned (tents, mo-hos, 5th Wheels, VW poptops etc) We.ve been to Florida three years and California lst year, and love the flexibility, economy, and comfort that this rig provides. The BIG plus is the new friends and campfire singers we've attracted every time we camp.
Modify...renovate...but above all enjoy and camp as often as you can!
Need any S. Ont help. helpme.gif ?...send me a pm. Happy trails 94.gif ...Alistair
