Hi: Has any one out there installed a Maxx Fan brand 12v. powered vent fan??? I have ordered this brand as it requires no additional rain hood or cover but my R.V. Supplier has no experience with a thin roof trailer...and neither do I helpme.gif I am really Maxx'ed out 4.gif Alf S. North shore of Lake Erie 4.gif

I put a MaxxFan in my Boler B1700RGH. The minimum roof thickness requirement means that to mount nicely there needs to be a spacer added, either on top of the roof, or under it; I used a two-layer plywood spacer under it.

Since the mounting holes did not line up with those for the original vent (there were not even the same number), I drilled new holes. The basic 14" square opening was fine for the new vent.

One nice feature of the MaxxFan is that you install a mounting collar, then drop the fan unit into it. Since it is difficult to reach in to the centre of the wide-body B1700, while standing on a ladder due to the roof height, I did most of the preparation (cleaning off old sealant) and installation (new holes, placing collar and fastening it) while standing on a stool in the trailer with my body sticking up through the vent hole - right through the collar while installing.

I can provide more details and photo illustration if that is desired; it will take me some time to prepare (select, crop, resize) the images.

Hi Brian, I am also interested in installing the MaxxFan, the details on installation would be great! My other question (for Alf too), did you buy it locally or did you have to order it from the US somewhere?

Thanks.

I bought my MaxxFan from a local RV dealer, at an outrageous price, to avoid similarly outrageous shipping and customs brokerage charges. the various local dealers' prices were comparable to each other. It was the same price as a Fantastic Fan of similar features, but the MaxxFan has the integral rain hood (the reason I chose it).

It was over $300 (Canadian), a couple of years ago.

I'll assemble the photos this weekend...

I put a Fantastic fan in my Boler but put the spacer on the inside and made it look like a nice frame.Worked for me.

Hi: I purchased locally and managed to get the price down from $315.00 to $289.47+ taxes for the smoked top 3spd. non remote fan... Same reasons as Brian ohmy.gif No S/H fees + fees @ Brokerage 52.gif 4.gif Alf S. North shore of Lake Erie 4.gif

I added a Maxxfan to the Bigfoot. It was a perfect fit. I like it. okrra.gif

You'll be glad you did.

We added a Maxx fan to our 13' Boler and added out spacer on the inside. It makes a nice accent piece also.

Hi: Well the MaxxFan is in...wired...and working. Tested it today as the trailer was actually hot!!! Boy does it work slick and fast... By the time I set the control to high speed I could feel cool air on my elbow coming in from the window... We have 5' 9 &1/2" clearance under the large crank open/close knob and I was lucky to have been able to cover the two 3/4" plywood spacer rings with the Ensolite and the trim ring for the fan and also able to loosen the Ensolite to run the wires in the roof from the fan to the light fixture in the upper cupboard over the sink!!! A quick spray with Contact adhesive (for the foam cushions) and the Ensolite is re stuck to the roof!!! I still need to down load my pic's and start a new album showing the installation... Many thanks to Brian BP for his helpme.gif posting... it made mine sooo vewwy simple... 53.gif 94.gif 94.gif 94.gif
