I really like to have a compass to help to find the campground. I got one at Harbor Frieght for less than $8.00. Battery operated and shuts off automaticaly after 10 minutes. Big diode letters with 3 suction cups for the windshield.
Donna says glycerine from Wallmart is best for sticking.

ahhh, no...I actually said I bought the glycerine at Wal-Mart...but I use it on my skin as a moisturizer... I've never used it on suction cups....

Well maybe you had it on your hands when sticking something up?

Did you try the silicone grease I suggested in the other post?

Cheap stuff.

Out of curiosity, why did you go with a digital compass?

Paul, I don't think analog swing around floaters are in style anymore. The one I have was easy to calibrate-two circles of the vehicle and its set.

Gotcha. Never worried about style myself, so never considered that possibility. I just like that the needle always points the same way, and the batteries never die. Stuck one on the windshield of my snowmachine, and used it to find my way out of a whiteout this winter.

I've always been intrigued by the digitals though, and many times have considered a handheld. Might just buy one yet to go with my gps.
