I got lucky today.

A friend of mine bought an old mid 60's aluminum tent trailer. It was pretty beat up, and leaked at every rivet. His intention for the trailer is to transform it into a hauler for his skidoos and atv's. So he told me to come over and salvage anything I wanted.

Like I said, this thing was OLD, USED and ABUSED and not much there until I looked under one of the seats. An awning with all 3 poles. It measuerd about 14 feet, so a little big, but I figured I could make it work, not to mention it was in really good shape! I then drilled out the riviets holding the aluminum railing to the trailer.

After cutting the railing and fastening it to the boler, and buying a few tent ropes for $5 at CDN Tire, taa daa, I know have an awning for the TANK.

I'm almost completed the renovation. I just finished painting the inside with kitchen/bath paint. 3 coats and wow, what a difference!!

Also at CDN Tire I was going to buy two new dome lights for inside as my lenses were cracked. The had the square ones for 9.99 each. I then ventured into the marine section and found a 12 volt, 12 super white LED light for 14.99, so I picked up two of those instead. Twice the brightness, 1/10 of the power....nice!!

By next Tuesday the TANK should be ready to roll as it's 1st trip will be on the long weekend!

Happy bolering!

Looks like a great find!

I have a workmate who has his Palomino Pop Up stored in our back lot (I wanna know how I can get away with that!)

Anyway, it has not been open in about 15 years. I keep telling him it's probably toast and he should at least look. I am betting if moisture has not killed it, the little So. Cal. desert rodents have.. and I would be happy to rip out any goodies he has in here 37.gif

Aren't I so nice????

I also scrounged a nice awning for my 13 ft Trillium...having advrtised for an awning, I got a call from a guy about 5 mi from me...he had an 10x10 awning in nice shape...when I went to his place, asked how much, he said he'd trade for a pair of canoe paddles !!! I went home, grabbed a decent spare pair out of the garage and was back over to his place in 10 minutes.
The awning, minus poles/ropes was in excellant shape;I've had it resized since to 8x10, at the orig manufacturer, locally.
The awning shape/pattern, etc looks identical to yours, Jason, in a brown stripe. Are you sure the manf's label, seen in one corner in your pics, doesn't say "Lester Awnings, Peterborough" !?
