After spending our first two weekends out camping in THE TANK, we thought it would be nice to have an outside light on for when were sitting by the fire or for those late night washroom runs.

So today I installed a new LED Porch Light.

WOW is this thing bright when it's dark outside!!

being all to familiar with the skidder population in Winterpeg, I have elected to instead mount blinking multicolored LED lights available from Radio Shack (The Source) in our fixture. IT lights equally as well while NOT attracting unwanted flying pests.....

I picked it up from Good Old Princess Auto. $6.99. It comes with an 1156 filament bulb.

To save power and I bought the 1156 super white 9 LED bulb for another $9.99. The LED is about 2x the brightness of the filament bulb and uses 1/10 the power.

I used butyl type for the seal and stainless steel bults/nuts to attatch it to the boler. I already had those in my garage.

Out of the box, the light just comes with screws to mount it.

Is the light inside your closet, so no worries about burrowing wires up behind the ensolite?

Correct.
The wires run down the back corner of the closet, then into the bench, then along the back wall into the other bench, then finally into the kitchen sink cupboard where my 12v power is.

They're out of the way and you can't see them.

I think the whole mod took about an hour. That included everything. The running of the wire, adding the power and mounting the light.

Very easy to do!

Hi: We already had a porch light...kinda coach lamp with a rotary switch that worked when "it" wanted to . First tow this spring and when we got home the fixture was dangling by the wires ...seems the base of the fixture had shrunk over the years and the lens no longer fits tight!!! I cut out the socket and smoothed the base and cut down a 13 diode amber clearance light from Grote. Added a toggle switch on the inside of the door/closet wall then silicone/glued on the old lens for a neat retro look With a 200,000 hr. rating I don't think I need worry about changing the LED unit
