We have turned the dinette into a permanent bed, sothe space underneath became a natural for storage. However, when we stopped driving and went into the trailer most of the stuff was on the floor.
The answer came to me in a Princess Auto catalogue. They had a small cargo net on sale for $8.00. A couple of stainless steel fairleads from my box of boat parts and we were in business. All the chairs stay in place while were driving, it folds up under the mattress when we need to get under the bed and otherwise it's a great place to store a book or magazine.

I'm going to try to add pictures, which is a first for me.

That's a great idea. I actually have one just like that in the back of my wagon but hadn't made the connection of using one for the Boler (for that time when I actually do get around to doing the front dinette conversion !!!)

I've also seen photos of a silver Boler somewhere where they used one across and above the goucho for storage in place of where the upper cabinet would go. Very useful idea.

What a great idea!! I found a couple of "under the bed" storage boxes that we shove under there. They are the length of a fill size bed - lids and all. One holds extra "weather" clothes and the other holds all dry goods for cooking - beans, rice, cereal, pasta - everything. They slide out easily and you can see everything you've got at a glance instead of digging under the bed. Plus - you can load them in the house!! They also stay in place

Also, as an afterthought - We were shopping in Santa Fe and had a couple of pretty nice things that I didn't want to worry about. We slide our under-the-bed boxes out which leaves us a cabinet door to the side bins behind the wheels. We had a couple of those canvas and wire baskets that we loaded up with treasures and could shotput in there, close the cabinet door and replace the storage boxes. The bins kept the items padded and from falling over. Since you have to squeeze under the bed to get all this accomplished, I would have felt comfortable with gold bricks back there!!

ONE MORE - since our bed is queen, we have a little space in front of the storage boxes. We have some "kind of nice" dishes that I wanted to store there. We got a plastic legal size file box from WalMart and some file folders. The closed box is a nice tight fit. Each dish goes in a folder then in the box. Gives plenty of padding and is easier than wrapping everything every time. Before this, I never used the stuff because it was too hard to get it unwrapped and wrapped again

Here's the picture I took a couple of years ago. It's the cargo net from a previous van held up under the front cabinet with a couple of those macrame hooks.
[Course ya gotta have overhead cabinets, Eh!].
Great for wet weather gear or a place for clothes at night. Can be unhooked and stored almost anywhere in seconds.

Great Idea but I never had anything slide out from under the bed but have had things almost bounce off the top of the bed.
I only put a folding table and the bag of 2 folding chairs and my wifes clothes duffle bag under the table but on top I put my guitar all the bed pillows and inbetween bed pillows some glass items like electric coffee maker beaker.

Anyway...I had built a safty board to go along the front of top bunk when grand child expressed concern about falling out.
This same board fits back bed when traveling but I wish I had made it a bit taller because it only goes about 2 inches above cushions and the guitar almost bounced over it while going down 1 mile of down grade, dirt road.
The things under bed/table didn't move.

HI,
This is a similar idea to ours....to keep our daughter from falling out of bed we attached deck netting (it probably has a more official name) from a boat across the front gaucho of the scamp.
We then put a long body pillow along it's length to make it more comfy. She loves it.

On sailboats its called a lee cloth. Runs along the edge of bunk to keep you from rolling out of bed into the aisle while sailing and when the boat is on a heel. The lee (or leeward, pronounced loo-ward) side is the low side of the boat.

Thanks for the info! Having lived full time (liveaboard) for several years, I should know this stuff! Actually, what we use in the Scamp is the netting that goes around the deck of the boat...to keep folks from falling overboard.
Now that you mention it though, a lee cloth would be more comfortable than the netting.

I bought a shower curtain rod that is adjustable and put that between the cabinets on either side of the opening under the bed, keeps everything from sliding all over!

It's always like Christmas morning when you open that camper door after driving a few hours!!

Also, we just bought those zero gravity chairs and didn't want them in the back of the truck so we put them on the bed, Al used a tie down strap to tie them to the bed (table) so they wouldn't slide all over and hit the interior of the camper!!! Worked like a charm, no surprises!!

I have been using a baby gate across the rear dinette bed area to keep stuff from sliding. It works great also
