EASY Dutch Oven Cinnamon Rolls:

Buy frozen cinnamon rolls (I used Rhodes' brand). Lightly spray dutch oven with vegetable spray, place frozen rolls in DO before you go to bed at night, and place the lid on the oven. The rolls should be thawed and risen perfectly by morning. Place appropriate number of coals on bottom for your size DO, and a full ring of coals on the lid.

Here's what mine looked like after baking:

The frozen rolls had a cream cheese frosting that could be spread on top after baking. They sure are a nice treat for breakfast while camping!

Hi Adonna,

Thanks for posting your recipe. My hats off to anyone cooking cinnamon rolls on camp-outs. Where do I need to go to get my cinnamon roll? l31.gif

The NOG next month perhaps?

I make a very similar recipe at home. I haven't tried it in a Dutch oven, but I think I will. The icing is in the pan so when it's turned out it's ready to eat. The recipe starts with 3/4 cup chopped pecans placed in first, then 18 frozen yeast dinner rolls. This is topped with a mixture of 1/2 cup melted butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, & 1 package vanilla pudding mix (not instant). It is covered and allowed to rise overnight. Then baked for 30 minutes and served.

And the crowd says aplas.gif

That sounds good! Heck, sawdust or dryer lint in the middle would be fine with me...

We have cooked your roll recipe at least 6 times. Once for a professional cook. His reaction was, "These are the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted". He wanted and got your recipe . I thanked you once and I thank you again. There the GREATEST. 4.gif

Well, if Adonna is making cinnamon rolls for the NOG, I'll bring my drip coffee earn, some coffee, half-and-half, and sugar. This will go well with the rolls.

so you put the entire DO in the fire and bury it with coals? for how long? my mouth is watering BTW.
Linda&Dale
Don't bury it in coals or you will burn it. Just use about 7 charcoal briquets on the bottom and about 14 on top for about 30 minutes or until they look golden brown. If you are using coals from the fire you have to be more careful as the heat is harder to regulate, but it can be done.
Mary F
We used to bury dutch ovens when I was a Girl Scout, but only when we were going to be gone all day, and were slow-cooking something that needed several hours to cook.

It was called a "bean hole."
