Well, folks I've been busy with my new travel satellite dish. I purchased a neat satellite dish the VuQube. It's the simpliest dish to use with one person. Remote controlled.

A friend of mine made me brackets for the VuQube that connect it to a fence post. Well, I needed to use the entire 6' post as I mounted the lower bracket on my jack post which swivels and is below the tongue. I cut the fence post into 2 pieces in order to be able to stow the post somewhere while on the road. I had a post connector weld into one end of one of the posts. There are holes drilled in the posts for securing everything together. I purchased some brackets and mounted them on the rear bumper to hold the posts while in transit. The posts lock to the brackets so they won't walk away when not in use.

I then thought that a clear view of the southern sky might be in the back, depending on the campsite, so I mounted a pole to the bike rack.

Oh, I forgot to say that I added expandable plugs to the posts for transit to keep road debris out and the lock clean which is inside the post nearest the bumper.

Hi: I would say you have a novel way of posting a post about a post and I see by the pic's you've got a handle on it too!!! Do you use campsites with pay per view???

Do you have to open up the VuQube or do anything to it to get it to work or is it ready to go as pictured? How is the reception? Which satellite service provider can you use (i.e., Dish Network, DirecTV, etc.)? How much for the set-up like you have? Finally, where can I get something like it?

Alf, are you referring to my reply to my original post. I did that because it wouldn't let me add all of my pictures to the first post. I use campsites with cable and will only put my dish up when there is no or minimal cable reception. Can't use PPV if I don't have telephone connection. I have yet to stay in a campsite with telephone connection.

Manny, It's a very small dish inside the box. The box is 17x17 and doesn't need to be opened to operate, just use the remote control to set the elevation and turn the dish side to side. I put it up and simply connect the cable to the cable jack on the outside of my trailer. It's got great reception just like inside my home.

I subscribed to DirecTV as it's the one most full timers & other RV'ers use. DirecTV's satellite is higher in the sky than Dish. I'm told by RV'ers who've had both, that it's easier to get a signal with DirecTV. Actually that goes for people in homes as well.

The VuQube is quite pricey. I purchased mine through roadtruckers.com, as they were carrying it at a better price. Just do a search online for VuQube and you'll find the various outlets that sell it. Camping World was the highest priced when I purchased mine.

Hey Joy, just a note, if on Direct TV, you can order PPV over the internet.

I haven't had a landline in my house for years, no phone line here now to connect to.

They "zap" the code thru the dish.

Gene & Nelene will be at Quartzite. You'll be able to see the VuQube and setup on their Casita. Same as mine except they have a center jack and only need one pole, about 4 ft. in length. He's thinking about maybe doing something on the rear of the trailer. They don't have a bike rack, so not sure what he'll come up with.

If it weren't a 12 hour plus trip, I'd come too. Just too long to do in one day consequently I'd need 4 days simply for road trip.

great! I will be looking for an easy way to do this if I end up fulltiming.
