I've seen those generators and vaguely wondered whether it might be an affordable "rainy day" backup for my solar panel setup. A generator is probably overkill . . . but I also wonder about noise. Solar is silent; gas generators are not, but how noisy are these generators at full load? I don't trust the stats on the box.

I suspect they are quite noisy. Honda's spec is something like 59 dB (max load) and the chicom thing is something like 69 dB (??Load). That's one heck of a difference -- In sound terms, 10 dB is a perceived doubling of the noise, we don't have something one will be holding conversations next to. Of course, if the chicom thing's level is at idle...

However, one can buy seven of the chicom things for one Honda and still have money left over for gas and earplugs. I hope no one camps next to me with one...
