I'm looking to purchase a TT. My budget is $500-$6000. I'm am looking for what you could consider "self contained". I want to essentially live out of it for an extended period of time. I was highly advised to look at a Scamp or Casita. I want one around 16-17', a shower/bathroom, and do not want a pop up. Lighweight is also a factor. I want to be able to pull it with a mid sized car. Does anyone have any other suggestions for brands to look for? I was told BigFoot is pretty good as well. I know there are others within my size/price range, but I don't really know a) how good they are and cool.gif if they are what I'm looking for. Any input would be awesome. Thanks.

You are on the right track. A Scamp or Casita will work well. The problem I see is your budget is extremely low. Molded Fiberglass Deluxe (full bath) trailers cost quite a bit more then that. I just sold my 2003 17' Liberty Casita for a little over $13,000.

We're willing to get an older one for now. This is just a start for us. Something that will save some money over the a few years, and that will give us more oppurtinities. Are there any other brands I should be looking at? Maybe even ones that might run a bit cheaper? It seems I can find later 80's and early 90's casita/scamps for around $6000.

Some examples that I'm also looking at would be:

a) Burro
b] U-Haul
c) Scamp
d) Casita
e) Big foot.

etc.

I have also considered how I would approach living full-time in my trailer, and I should point out that the Burros came in 14' and 17' wide-body versions. The difference with the extra width is important to me. Also, I would suggest that you carefully check the sleeping area and go for a trailer where you can set up the bed permanently and have it ready all the time.

As one of our more famous and experienced forum members said one time: If you cannot get a good night's sleep, what's the point? Pertinent if you are of above average height and size.
