It looks beautiful!

It's cute as a bug--add spots and it could be a ladybug, in fact! It would go great with my red truck! Any inside pics?

Looks good. Can you tell us more about the restoration. For example, it looks like there's no propane but a battery on the tongue instead. Is that the way you got it or did you make that mod and if so why?

Also, Iv'e been thinking of having the spare on the tongue also, to have a cleaner look at the back end. How does it affect your tongue weight?

Thanks.

The resoted Boler has had all the Propane removed. It was a personal choice of mine (safety reasons). Because of this, it allowed me to install the spare on the front. The weight of the propane was replaced with the weight of the spare. However, I can't take (Sharp) Left turns with the spare mounted on front. Nornal backing and driving is fine though.

That was a neat tour.

Incredible! This is now my favorite of all restorations I have seen! tasteful, stylish and modern. In my opinion it is cooler (or as cool as) the Airstream Basecamp. I am green with envy.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the great feedback. Our boler was a labor of love! We are going to add an awning this summer. Really looking forward to getting to the camp site!

Any feedback or idea's on awnings would be great!!

Cheers,

Mike

Oh, I forgot to say--I'd keep the blue cushions; blue is a more restful color than red and it seems to me that with maroon cushions the interior is going to be pretty intense. Of course, you didn't ask for my opinion... wink.gif

Thanks for you opinion. We are still up in the air about that. It would be a great cost savings if we just kept the blue.

Wow, that really looks great. Beautiful detail work

Nice work!

How is it working out to have the sub floor? That is what I was thinking of doing to mine since the fiberglass floor is in rough shape and looks to need more even support.

The sub floor works like a charm! I have no sag at all when walking around inside. You can also tell when your pulling it, the boler feels more solid when it hits those unavoidable pot holes. One of the smartest things I did in the restoration.

However, 1/2 plywood in not lite, it does add weight. I would have to say about 100 pounds.

Oh ya, one more thing. The sub floor also distibutes the weight of the shell more evenly alowing less stress (pressure points) on the steel trailer frame.
Lizbeth
Thanks Mike. The weight wouldn't be an issue as we already installed a new 2000lb axle. It's good to see the idea I had works well!

woohoo.gif Well done! Thanx for posting the pics of your terrific rehab. As others have said, the pull-out table is inspired!

Two questions:

1. D would like to know where you found the LED marker lights ... we have been looking.
2. I'm interested in the paint/finish used ... it appears to be "texturized" ?

We wish you safe journeys and many, many happy memories! Take care, L 'n D

1. These Marker lights came from Wal-mart, believe it or not. They were 1/4 the cost and the exact same mfg as the ones offered at all the car stores and farm stores in MN.

$5 bucks each. They are totally sealed.

I'll let you read up on it! It's not cheap, but worked great. I would use it again in a heart beat! Brick Red tectured

Mike,

I really liked you renovation which has definately given me inspiration. I'm considering the same exterior paint product for my Boler. Can you tell me how many coats you ended up applying and how many gallons were needed? Did you use a primer?

Iain

The paint is called Duraback http://www.nonslipcoating.com/anticorrosive.htm. Very heavy duty.
Cost is $139 a gallon (not cheap). Took 3 gallons (rolled on). You have about a 3 hour working time once seal is broken as it reacts to oxigen. Each coat adds a 1/8 inch rubberized coating that seals, works as an insulation, and is very very durable. You can pull steel chains across it and it doen't leave any marks! No priner was used, you just scuff up the surface. You can read more at the web site.

Elementary my dear Watson!!

Carpet was the only covering applied to the inside, believe it or not, the paint is the true insulator. The paint is called Duraback http://www.nonslipcoating.com/anticorrosive.htm. Very heavy duty.

Back to the carpet, we used a trunk (Stretchable) carpet, no backing so it stretches. It is used in high-end automotive restorations alowing you to make sure you see no seams, and you are right, there are no seams. It was applied with sprayed on counter top glue (It ain't ever coming off).

Thanks Mike. I'm definately leaning towads this simply because it looks great and I have some imperfections on the fibreglass from the previous owners sloppy repair . This stuff should cover up the repair quite nicely without hours of sanding and filling. I'm assuming you applied 2 coats? Any idea of the wieght it adds?

Thanks again,

Iain
