We would like to announce the dates for the 2008 Matagorda Madness December 4-7th. This is a very unique gathering geared towards the outdoors, nature and relaxing. We suggest you make your reservations now because of the limited capacity of the park. We cannot block spaces and if the park gets full they will not let us double up. So come join us on the Gulf for some fishing, kayaking, birding, beachcombing or just relaxing.

This is the best time to escape to the beach because there are lots of things missing. People, snakes and mosquitoes! The average temperature span for the first week in December is 49-69 and its almost the lowest month on the calendar for rain fall in Matagorda TX.

We have the addition of the Nature Center facility this year as our gathering point and their staff is offering us a fantastic curriculum of learning activities. Animals of the Gulf Coast, Wings over the Wetlands, GPS Nature Scavenger Hunt, Adventures in Beachcombing and a Day on the Bay Guided Kayak Trip.

I just got off the phone with LCRA Matagorda Bay RV park and they are up and operational from the storm. I also just got off the phone with the TPWD and inquired about how many spaces were available for our gathering and there are 2 spaces available.

If you have reservations please make sure you have registered at www.matagordamadness.com for your attendance, LCRA programs and the bonfire.

Also, it would be nice if each trailer that attends would have at least 1 registrant for 1 of the LCRA programs if not more. Please begin to plan your time at the gathering so the LCRA can preplan what programs they will need to provide depending on interest and attendance. If we do not have enough interest in the programs ahead of time they will be canceled.
