My sister-in-law, now 78, lives full time in a 38' motor home. She has full timed alone for at least 6 years. Now in TX she is my role model! She is where I hope to go and if it doesn' suit her she pulls out and moves on down the road!!! I will be full timing in a fiberglass trailer with some 4 legged friends but we'll be out there too,as soon as I can arange it.

Hi J - glad to read you will begin full-timing soon ... you won't regret it. Your relative is quite a role model! There are so many helpful and caring people along the way to help or advise if you encounter a problem. Where we were parked last December, we met 3 women who were full-timing solo and lovin' it.

Do you plan to tug an Egg for your travels? We have been living in and "out of" our Scamp 13 for nearly 2 years - we have everything we need, and are "keeping it simple, Sweetie" (we KISS a lot).

Congrads to your sister. She's 'doin it'!! I would like to think I'll be there one day myself. Im 52 now and can see retirement down the road. I've had a pop up in the past but now Im thinking of getting a 5th wheel Scamp soon. I have a question though. With todays rising gas prices, how does one afford to full time RV? After the first year or two, full timing doesn't necessarily involve a lot of travel, unless one plans annual migrations from Calif to Newfoundland. The view of full timers getting a lot of windshield time is often a mistaken one.

We are full-timing, but this year we are "seasonals" in a campground in New York. We have made a few trips, we are in Ontario, CA now, but we are not "on the road". Even the first year we were full-timing we spent three months in San Marcos, TX.

This winter we hope to "work" camp for 4 to six months in one location.

Of course the winter location will be in Texas or Death Valley, or North Carolina so we will have to get there.

This post has my wheels turning...I could definately see myself doing it in a few years. Initially I wondered how a 13 footer could be spacious enough for fulltime, but seems it can be.

How much space do you need, is a pretty interesting subject. I've often wondered about how much space I really use in our house and how often. I've also looked at how I can reduce the amount of space used by multipurposing space. We've got a pretty small house by today's standards, just a bit over 1,000 square ft., and there's one room I never go into. Much of the space is used just getting from one used space to another. In our 13' trailer some of the space is just used to get from place to place, not much but some. The more I thought about it more I'm convinced that more space would be just more floor to clean and more storage space to put more stuff that I don't use in.
