this forum software is different for sure.
I have had dozens of times where I wanted to put a nice little image explanation in my post... like 200 x150 or so ... or maybe a series of small trip photos... can't do it.
Not knocking the software but the aforementioned is very easy to do on the other forums and storage and band width are not big problems these days... are they?... at least not so on the forums I run or belong too.

We have throttled it down due to abuse. You can post quite a few photos in each post. There is no value in wasting storage and bandwidth. No body can view a photo 23" wide and it takes for ever to load for people on dial up or EVDO cards.

We'd be happy to help you solve the upload problems you're having. If your images are 200 x 150 pixels, they should be loading just fine. The software we use for these discussion forums handles images differently than software whose purpose is to primarily feature photographs.

Storage does cost money. Every picture posted will hopefully be kept available indefinitely, which means buying larger computer(s) or paying for more and more space on a commercial server. Sometimes a moderator will go back in and resize/reupload contributed images that have a larger than needed filesize, but frankly, we are all volunteers and time is precious.

And, yes, today bandwidth isn't a problem for most people, but believe it or not, not everyone has a fast connection. We have always tried to keep all our users' needs in mind... which is why we're cheerfully willing to help your solve your upload problems, if you want help.

We do regret that you are unable to take full advantage of the features of our site.

You may need an image re-sizer. It took me a while to figure that out. Once you download the re-sizer, it is available when you "right-click" on an image in your files.
It will create a copy of the image you want to post at a much smaller file size, acceptable to the forum. Here's the page for the one I downloaded from MicroSoft.

If you search "image resizer", you will find plenty of alternatives. My camera takes 5 MegaPixel shots, so I try to downsize the files for general email, not just for forum uploads.
