I'm seriously looking at fulltiming. With the job I have I'm gone from my house and staying in hotels 6 months a year. If I add in visiting family and vacations I'm gone 9 months a year.

I know doing laundry is not that big of a deal but I plan on being in primitive areas away from laudramats. Any suggestions on good ways to do laundry in a remote location with plenty of water? I'll be hovering around the Great Lakes a lot.

When we were kids, my mom would put my brother and I in the bathtub to stomp the clothes with our feet. You would only need a plastic tub and you would also get clean feet. Terry

Thanks for the reply. Looks like an interesting unit. Hadn't thought about just putting the laundry in 5 gal paint buckets you can get with tops at Home Depot and driving down the road. Good ideas all.

It also helps to choose the clothes you wear carefully. Some fabrics are easier to clean and faster to dry.

Wash'em out in the shower/whatever on Saturday when you take your bath. Put'em on wet/damp (Automatic Air conditioning). Wear them till next Saturday -- repeat. Only need one set of clothes.

When I was Fulltiming, my bathing was usually in a stream or pond or something like that, so soap was not a good thing (me or my clothes). However, a good rinse for all of us was a good thing.

I kept about ten sets of clothes and did the laundry weekly at coin-laundromat when I went food shopping.

When I am dry camping, or even boondocking, and have access to water, I frequently use a 5 gal bucket. Wash a few items at a time and be sure to not use too much soap so the rinsing does not get out of hand. Also don't let the laundry pile up. A few items every day or so can keep me away from a laundermat for a month.

We used this little gizmo several times in our travels. It certainly came in handy when the kids were small and recently when our puppy had an accident on our bed. It only takes about 1 1/2 gallons of water for the wash and rinse cycle each.
