Has anyone tried this unit or know anything about it? It looks like you can run it on solar panels. I need some one more technical orientated than me to see if it's possible.

From the figures they provide they claim you could run this unit with 2 60 watt panels during the day and 6 hours at full blast with two 8D size batteries. Does this sound right? If so that would mean 200lbs of fully charged batteries.

As I said I'm way over my head on this subject.

Here is the website. Could someone who really knows about this subject take a look for all of us.

Just imagine if I'm right. AC from solar panels. 40.gif Whoot.

According to that web sites numbers that would give about 1 days use before you'd have to connect to a huge charger to recharge your batteries (50 amp charger). To effectively run with solar you'd need about 100 square ft of solar panel (600 watt).

Let's redo the numbers.
10' x 10' solar panel on top of my trailer. OK, some overhang. Weight, a bit over 100 lbs. Cost $3,000.00
Batteries 3D Batteries, weight 450 lbs. Cost $1,500
Bare AC unit.. Weight 50 lbs. Cost $2,500

Totals weight 600lbs. Cost $7,000

unless you are planing to be near lots of running water the system will not work on land. it uses water to remove heat.
