Has anyone made mods for sleeping only two adults in a 13 footer? I'm wondering if it's possible for two adults to sleep in the bunks in the front so the dinette can stay up all the time in the back. Would it be possible if the upper bunk was reinforced somehow?

Alternatively, has anyone figured out a way to make twin beds in the back of a 13 footer?

If not, you might want to look at Compct JRs, IIs or Trailswest Campsters.

They have a queen/king bed that many use as two singles on the side seats when it is in "dinette" mode..

Fiberstreams you could do this with too, but they are bigger than 13.

No, we haven't found our perfect egg yet. Here in the midwest, in affordable driving distance, the majority of campers I have seen tend to be 13 footers. That's why I asked what I did. I wouldn't mind a larger one, but I don't think I've seen any FiberStreams in this area. Haven't seen any of the Compact Jr. types any closer than the west coast. They look really neat, though. A Casita Liberty Deluxe would be perfect, but is probably not in our budget any time soon. I've been learning as much as I can on the forum here in the meantime.

I am planning to sell my Fiberstream as soon as I can get around to it and get it ready for sale.

You may find following Ches' lead and building the bunks at the back (more room) and creating a semi-permanent dinette at the front... would actually work better. There is a number of members that have converted the front goucho into really functional eating areas. Lots of things have been done... removal tables and porta potty storage for instance.

We have a permanent mattress on the bed of our 13 foot Burro and have the front bunk set up as a dining for two all the time.
I have just completed a slide out from under the bed mod which should allow us to sleep from trailer rear toward the front.
Not tried yet, will be tried out July 10. I can't wait.
Idea for the mod stolen from this board somewhere.
That's what I love about this board.

Quite a few have removed the table and made it into a permanent bed and changed the bunks into a two person front dinette. We are just in process of completing this arrangement ourselves. My wife has made new curtains, pillow cases, bedding and re-upholstered the front seat cushions. We have re-painted the outside and made a table to fit the front. Still got some mods to do, but then there's always something to update. I want to add a couple of outside hatches to access the rear bench storage since it's now covered with a permanent mattress. Got to have new cupboard doors and the electrical could use a real update, but if I procrastinate long enough .... well there's always next year.

So does that mean the other egg is now 4th time fantastic?

Do you have pics? This sounds like a mod we could use if we end up with a 13 footer. My goal is to find a way to sleep comfortably and not have to crawl over each other if we get up during the night.

No pix as each trailer would be different, like mine has a 3/4 plywood board across the benches giving a 3/4 inch gap where a table would normally go. This is where I added the slide in part.

Yep that's it. Mine is a little different but the idea is still the same.

Quick update, found some foam cushion stuff in the attic and cut it to size. approx 22"X33".
Put it on the slide out and made the wife come out and try it.
By golly it just might work out nicely. Plenty of room for legs and the top part feels almost like our old queen.
The true test will be next week.
I figure the porta pot will sit in front of the door. In the AM when I get up to make coffee she can just slide around the way we used to sleep and I can slide in the bed mod.

Update, Bed mod a success! plenty of room. Wife of course can feel a pea under th mattress so we may get some sort of 2 inch or so memory foam on top.
But as far as I am concerned the mod is terrific.
AND I got to camp again! whoopie.

Any chance we can convince you to post some pix of your mod? It sounds great.
