Hi All,

I see frequent posts about not being able to resize pictures. Resizing images can be a complicated process depending on the software you have - I have 5 different graphics programs for work (CS2, Paint.net etc)

The EASIEST way to re size your pictures is to use a tool provided free by Microsoft called Image Resizer. It adds an additional menu item 'Resize Pictures' when you right click an image (or select a group of images and right click).

Just select the size you want to use and press ok. It makes a copy of the image with the same name and with an additional comment of (Small) (Medium) or (Large). Any of those sizes will upload fine to this forum however medium is nice for dial up users like myself.

Here's a hint for optimizing picture sizes for FGRV using this tool.

Select Advanced then Custom and enter 600 by 600 in the boxes and your pictures will be resized to FGRV's limits. Up until Booker pointed this out, all my other software made the pictures either too big or too small, now they can be just right.

Your pictures will be renamed to the orginal picture name followed by Custom in brackets in the same folder.

e.g. Original.jpg becomes Original(Custom).jpg

Just to clarify what Roy mentioned (though you can ignore this entirely if it's too geeky)

When you select custom and enter 600x600 - depending if your picture is portrait (more height then width ) or landscape (more width than height ) the resizer will shrink one measurement to 600 and the other to the correct lesser size... for example if your image is 1200w x 600h the final image will be 600w x 300h. It will not distort the image by increasing the lesser dimension to 600px.

One other thing I noticed is the that the XP picture resize tool makes the file sizes much smaller at the same time than my other programs do when resizing.

Much better for storage and download purposes.
