My idea for a rear stabilizer.
Weld a piece of square tubing 2"x2" on the inside of the rear bumper. Drill a hole in the square tubing to fit a 1/2" black gas pipe. Drill another hole 3/8" on the side and weld a 3/8"nut to the tubing. Screw a 3/8" bolt into the 3/8"nut.(use this as a set screw for the 1/2" black gas pipe) Base is wood 2x6 with a 1/2" hole in the center and 1/2" deep.

To operate--> Level your trailer first.

Now lower your tongue jack 2 full turns. Click to view attachment

Next slide the 1/2" pipe into the top part of the bracket, and push down to the ground where your 2x6 is, line up the 1/2" hole in the wood base with the black pipe.

Now tighten your set screw.(to keep pipe from moving)

Last thing raise tongue jack 2 full turns.

Pin system you have is another good way to lock pipe.

I hate to be the queen of simple....but...

couldn't you do the same thing, ready made, by purchasing two side winders that bolt on and have pads instead of wheels... and simply cranking them down?

I think I might actually do that!. There is enough room on my frame to do so.

It seems to me that the simplest and cheapest thing to do is install factory-made stabilizing jacks.

I had thought about bolting some sort of jack or stabilizer on, but then on second thought of almost scraping the Scamp bumper on an entrance to a filling station, and of where I go during hunting season and other camping trips, I wanted something tucked up as high as I can get. This seems to be the solution to getting the most clearance. Larry

Hey Kevin,

How many hours did you stand, and how many ships did you get on? Never saw so many people in Duluth. Crowds beat both Grandma's Marathon and the Blues Fest weekends.

We stood for 3 hours, got on one ship. But boy were they nice to see coming in with the sails up.

Nice job, let us know how the stabilizers worked.

Waited 4 HRS each day. I thought only one ship out of the three were worth the wait. Total of 125,000 people showed up. The stabilizers worked GREAT. Camp ground was also super.(Spirit mountain http://www.spiritmt.com/campground_reservations.aspx)
